This sounds weird but it works. I have tried it. You need to write over the old writing with dry erase markers and then erase it. It has worked for me when someone used permanant marker on a dry erase board. Tell me if it works.

Mr Clean Magic eraser works well so does using a fresh mark on top of it let it sit a few and the old will come off with the new.

Use a new marker, and draw over the old markings. Let it sit for a second, then erase. Usually works like a charm.

Its simple really. All you have to do is draw over the area with a dry erase marker real good, and then erase. Try it its magic.

Color over the stains really hard with new dry erase markers and then erase them off. It works, kthxapalooza!

Staple's sells a product called Expo 2 White Board Cleaner. Use that. it works great!

I've used Windex many times and it works wonderfully. Rubbing alcohol is also good, but I think Windex works better. There are special whiteboard cleaners, but try the Windex first before buying something like that.

Sounds funny, but dab a rag in some vinegar, and wipe it off. It works, and is cheaper than buying a new board!
