For some reason I get obsessed with people, and I can't do anything about it. It gets to the point that I don't want to think about it and can't stop it. Is there some personality disorder like that? It's really been bothering me lately. Can anyone help me on this? Please no stupid remarks, this is serious.

It's not tv stars, just regular people that I know. Co workers and people like that.

To indianalee, could I have ocd? I don't have "rituals" though. The only thing similar is that I feel the need to check things. Like if I'm watching tv or reading I have to go back and make sure I didn't miss anything.

Obsessed with people in your life - like boyfriends? Or obsessed with tv stars and the like? You aren't very specific. But what it sounds like to me is you are afraid of losing people. Have you had a lot of loss in your life? You also don't have enough self respect obviously. There is not one wrong thing with counseling -- you might want to try it.

Seriously: Talk to a doctor about that. It could be a mental imbalance or just your personality. It's one thing to be obsessed with a band or a significant other, but if you find your self obsessing over more than one random person, then talk to someone. If you're worried about it, than it is either really not a simple infatuation or you have an issue about worrying you have this condition.

Either way, talk to a doctor. At least it will put you to ease. Reading about this stuff will only put it in your head you have a mental issue and never correct it, you have to go see someone to get help.

Are you obsessed with what they think about you and things that you said. If so, then yes you have a slight case of OCD. What sometimes helps is talking to a friend about what you're thinking others think and feel. They can help you sort through your feelings and find what is real. Like maybe a person was ok with something you said and didn't think anything else about it etc... Good Luck!

in what way? Love? ...you find a mate and get really attached? Well obsession to a certain degree is fine. It's when you cross that line when obsession becomes serious. It seems like you are insecure or ...well you cannot be with yourself and just be happy. Try and get a psychologist to help you out there.

People with obsessive personality disorder are overly focused on orderliness and perfection. Their need to do everything "right" often interferes with their productivity. They tend to get caught up in the details and miss the bigger picture. They set unreasonably high standards for themselves and others, and tend to be very critical of others when they do not live up to these high standards. They avoid working in teams, believing others to be too careless or incompetent. They avoid making decisions because they fear making mistakes and are rarely generous with their time or money. They often have difficulty expressing emotion.

Symptoms of Obsessive Personality Disorder:
*Need for perfection and excessive discipline
*Preoccupation with orderliness
*Inflexibility
*Lack of generosity
*Hyper-focus on details and rules
*Excessive devotion to work

A combination of medication and therapy tends to yield positive results.

I have an obsessive personality myself, and it's not a laughing matter at all. There are a multitude of books and websites that you can turn to for more information. Medication might also be of some help. You can talk to your family doctor about it, and they might also refer you to a psychologist/psychiatrist depending on your level of need. Here are a couple of links to get you started:

It has to do with your past. What was the first time that u realized you don't care or somebody told you that you don't care enough or not good enough/ not attentive enough? its an event that happened in your childhood. Ever since, unconsciously you have decided to cover up for that by being extremely attentive. trying to prove that you are good /caring etc....
Find that day where it all start it and transform it. Its meaning less. you made a decision based on what somebody else said and its totally meaningless.
