we just did this, and BEFORE you buy your new toilet, you might want to research which ones flush the most, err, solid waste. there is a site online where an engineer did this and it is most helpful... Koeller and Company, at Veritec Consulting Inc., please see link below. It's lots of info but if you scroll down you'll find their charts of best models. you don't want to go to all that expense and work to replace your potty and then find out you've got one that is, shall we say, all sound and fury yet does nothing. hope this helps. and no, the actual process is not difficult as long as you can lift the fixtures. two piece potties are easier to lift :)

no its not really difficult its more messy than anything. first drain all the water out of the drain and the bowl. then you can disconnect the pipe that brings water into the toilet. Then use a wrench to unbolt the toilet from the floor. Then remove the wax ring (MESSY, USE RUBBER GLOVES), replace the wax ring with a new one and then put the new toilet over the whole. bolt the toilet to the floor and then connect the water supply, and thats basically it.

It's not that difficult. You"ll need an adjustable wrench to disconnect the hold down bolts & the water fill line. Don't try to save money on the job- replace the fill line with a new flexable one & replace the wax sealing ring.

We tried and ended up calling a plumber. A friend said she went to the library and got a "do-it-yourself" book, went to Home Depot and they walked her through the whole process. Good Luck!

is not hard but if you want to do it yourself first get a book on how to do it.....and get an idea from the book and the only tool that you need is either some plyers, and caulking, and flat screwdriver....and rags.....to clean yourself...other than that you can start now.....
