All money received after the date of death is to be returned to social security. You can call the social security office in your area and provide them with the information and they will inform you of any dollar amounts that need to be sent back to them. They will also update their records so that no additional funds are sent out. They are very friendly and easy to work with.

If it's a check received after the person past away then you have to send it all back, or if it wasn't cashed prior to their death.

If you don't return all of the check, and if you keep receiving them they will eventuially catch you. They will try to make you pay it back.If you don't they will take the money from your SS checks when you start to receive them.
