Hello,
I'm looking to go in a different direction. I have my business admin and mgmt degree and HATE working in a cubical and corporate environment. I am not my happy self, have become depressed from working here everyday and need some direction for some fulfulling careers that people have and enjoy.

Thank you for any assistance you can provide!!

This is a difficult one to answer, not only because most corporations are very cubical-driven, but also because depending on where you live, you may or may not have a lot of businesses that are more progressive.

I myself have been in management, purchasing, and production management for a while now. I've been fortunate to find some very good positions, and unfortunate to find some that were not so great. I have come to the realization that when you walk into the building for an interview, if you don't get a feeling of "wow, this place is cool" then guess what? It probably isn't a very fun place to work. The other thing that helps, of course, is meeting some of the people that work there already. Maybe the place has cubicles, but everyone is always up and about and getting things done, and the cubicle is more of a storage space than an actual assigned seat.

Also, take a look at peoples faces in the place. People are smiling even when the boss is around, showing you the place? That's a good sign. Everyone seems kind of tired and worn down, not smiling, "zoning out" etc... well... time to go to the next interview.

Of course, the one thing that will make the biggest difference though from one person to the next, is if the products and/or services that the company offers are actually interesting. I could never work for a place that sells books on tape, for instance... haha. If that perfect job came along working for Apple, or Microsoft, or Pixar though... well... there you go.

I'm sure you have heard it before, do something you love, work your passion.

Take an inventory of your thoughts and find the most common subject. Once you do this search the internet for information on it and learn more.

You can sign up for newsletters to get a constant flow of information that should help too.

You may want to consider online business or a service business where you are in control. Opportunities are everywhere you just have to be aware of what's around you.

This site has some good articles that may help you decide on something. Whatever it is, do it with all your might.

Working for yourself and not someone else is incredibly rewarding and empowering. Many professional women are turning to careers in the direct selling industry and with your background, I'm sure you'd sky rocket in whatever industry you choose. Sounds like you want to have some fun, while making money, and having a productive career path.
I've chosen lia sophia jewelry as my career path (I also have a professional degree). I am so empowered and excited everyday because I know that the sky is the limit with my biz. I can work as little or as much as I want and know that whatever I put into the biz, I'm gonna get out of it. I don't have to wait for someone else to tell me I'm doing great, it just shows up on my paychecks:)
Tell me what you think--I'd love to have you on my team. Sounds like you'd be motivated to do fantastic things!
