World standard time, based on Greenwich Mean Time, recognizes local AM and PM notations. 12:00 noon is PM, 12:00 midnight is AM.

IM is not a recognized standard of time, although the locals in Meridia may well use the term loosly if they're confused about what time it is.

well, am and pm are abbreviations for the latin words Ante Meridian and Post Meridian. Ante is before, Post is after, and Meridian is middle. IM could mean Inter Meridian, which would mean "in the middle", which makes sense for 12 oclock, as its in the middle of the day (or night)

False, we only have a.m and p.m. People need to learn the difference or they get f*cked- no one cares enough to change it.
