20% sight
40% smell
20% voice
20% touch.

I performed this test in my house. i blindfolded my guinea pig. i let my aunt hold her, she shivered. i let some random person hold her, she squeked and shivered. i held her, she at first shivered and then got quite. without the blindfold she recognized me and my aunt, but not my friend( the random person) and still squeaked at touch. she squeked at voice for me and kept quite with other people.

They can tell by the voice of the person and partly the smell. My guinea pig knew my mom was home right when she walked in the door because of her voice. As soon as he heard my mom, he would go on a squeaking fit and run around the cage until she came to say hi.
I don't think they have the greatest eyesight. So I think it's mostly the sounds and the smells. But it's hard to tell which one they use more.
