IMPASSE
OSTENTATIOUS
RESIDUAL

Are the three words that I didn't know. I am 20 years old and I attend community college (my second year).

ABYSS -something vast and inmeasurable
ADJUNCT - well the only meaning of this I know is the english term, but I'm sure there is another meaning for the word.
AGILITY - ie agile, how someone can move
AIMLESS - sort of like aloof "i walked around aimlessly", with no purpose
ALOOF - someone who is withdrawn in their emotions
ASCERTAIN -to be certain about something
ASSAILABLE - to harm someone
COMPASSION - full of love
COMPEL - ie "you make an compelling argument" , to get someone to think about something from your POV
COMPETENT - knowledgable, able
CONFIDENTIAL - ie confidential information, something that you should keep to yourself
CONVENTIONAL- kind of like tradtional, going with the norm
DAWDLE- kind of like being lazy "don't dawdle around"
DECEIVE - to lie or withhold information
DEFICIENT - lacking something, like i have a deficient amount of money in my bank account
ENTOURAGE - a group of friends
EVACUATE - to leave the premiss of where you are
INGENUITY- to be imaginative
INHABIT - living, ie- humans inhabit the earth
INSINUATION - you think a certain way about something without knowing the facts, to insinuate
KINETIC - as in 'kinetic energy'
PROPHESY - to forsee the future
RATIFY - to approve something
REMINISCENCE - to think about the past
SURROGATE - taking the place of another, as in 'surrogate parent'
VEND - to sell something
WRITHE - as in to 'writhe with pain'

All of them and many more. I am thirty and an inveterate reader. I attended college for three years, but dropped out. I was an English major and planned to teach. I would say those words are on the easy side. You might want to check out this book.. http://www.houghtonmifflinbooks.com/booksellers/press_release/100words/

Not sure about vend--does it mean to sell?

I know the others. I'm 35 and have two degrees (BA in liberal arts and B.Ed. in Teaching ESL.)

(I notice a lot of people didn't answer the question. Hmm.)

I know all of those words and then some. I think laconic and asinine and tenebrous should also be on your list...as well as swink. But then again, I have a B.A. in English! LOL
