If you have enough money socked away to live comfortably (and fight off some big medical problem), then I say you should stay. We do have everything here... but if you don't have enough money to live and take care of your health for another 20 years, I'd say -- go to Canada. They have free health care, and you're practically in the US still... just without all the violent crime.

So, there you are -- if you have enough money to pay for failing health, stay. If you don't have enough money, go. You can't count on Social Security to support you.

I am old enough to retire and I have chosen to stay here. I have lived in Mexico for two years and found it agreeable, but somewhat boring. I am fortunate enough to have amassed enough retirement benefits to live well here. If that were not the case, I would definitely consider life elsewhere.

I would get the hell out of there and avoid the death squads. Retirement in America means you have no further capitalistic use and you're no longer a nett consumer. I'm sure glad I live in Australia!

If the state of affairs are good and I am comfortable I would stay. If there is discord and I could afford it I would leave so that I could spend my final days in peace.
