So empathise with you on this one - was thinking the same about my oven but it was so disgusting I actually attempted to clean it the other week -2 cans of Mr Muscle later it still wasn't even half way there! I have resolved to buy a new kitchen complete with new oven and I will make sure I never let it get that dirty again!

Treat yourself to a new one, and this time, get a self-cleaning oven. They are fabulous. All you need to do is set it and sit back while it self-cleans. Takes about 4-5 hours, but when it's done, all you have to do is wipe out the dust caused from the cleaning. I never knew cleaning an oven could be so easy. You'll love it!!

I hope this helps.

Clean it. Then use the money you saved by not buying a new one to take a mini vacation to a spa or some where else that you can get pampered for your hard work. Next Christmas ask the spouse for a new stove/oven with a self cleaning option to avoid the issue in the future:)

This decision is totally yours to make.
If you can find the time to clean it after such a long time, then do so.
If you can spend that much energy to scrub off all that grime build up, then by all means do so.

I can tell that you will be buying a new oven because if you were the cleaning sort of person, you will not even have a disguting oven to begin with.

So go ahead and buy a new one and don't feel guilty about it, ok?
Throw that greasy, dirty one out now!!

I think there are some chores which need dividing... window and oven cleaning are for the guys while caring for clothes is a female task. Cooking is 50/50 as is general cleaning of the home...

Do you know? I think I would buy a new one... My partner cleans my oven - I think it is one of the most boring chores in the world!

There are so many more things worth doing - life is too short for oven cleaning!!!

I'd say take the time to clean it. Now if it is old, then don't bother, just get a new one. but if it still has a ton of miles left, I think it would be in your best interest to clean. It doesn't really take a whole lot of time.

clean it! what's the point in throwing away a perfectly good oven that just needs a clean. I'd rather do that than buy a new one, think of what else you could buy with the money that you would have spent on a new oven, like shoes.......................

Well if you have the money to blow for a new oven then just hire someone to clean it.
