Please explain and support your answer. A 'yes or no answer' is worthless without explanation and it immediately defeats the purpose of asking the question and learning something.

science belongs to all 3 groups, only time separates those 3types.
First is theoretical, then you want to confirm your theory with experiments and finally you aplly this knowledge to resolve problems.
of course sometimes experimental observation comes first and then you try to explain it with theory.

Nope because they overlap so much these days and by the way applied and experimental are almost the same thing...
