So you can see what is rotting in the back or your fridge. Stuff doesn't rot in the freezer.

well i think its because we go to the fridge all the time and use it more. and if we had a light in the freezer it would either freeze or just break due to the temperature. a freezer should be set at -18 and a fridge at -5. hope this helps

I've always wondered that. I did an experiment and the light in my fridge gets hot. Not hot enough to heat the fridge, but if there were one in the freezer there would be a bigger difference in temperature because it's cool er than than the fridge.

I don't know and that is a very good question. Why don't you invent a freezer light? It sure would come in handy when I am standing on my head trying to get stuff out of the bottom of my chest freezer. Good Point!

Maybe because you use the fridge more often then the freezer. Or maybe because its too cold for the lighbuble to light properly.

Some fridge/refrigerators don't have both. The heat from an incadenscent light bulb will really kill the energy efficiency.

Many of the side by side refrigerators have lights. Also the refrigerators that have the freezer on the bottom have lights.
