Among classical music? In your opinion! Like something people can easily tell that they;ve heard somewhere... even though they have no knowledge in classical music.
Thanks...

I'm not sure about "popular," but individual pieces by specific composers that are very recognizable include:
~ Pachelbel's Canon
~ Beethoven's 5th and 9th symphonies (specifically the 1st movement of the 5th, "Da da da DA," and the "Ode to Joy" from the 9th)
~ Vivaldi's Four Seasons
~ Handel's Messiah, particularly the Halleluja Chorus
~ Strauss's Blue Danube Waltz
~ Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture
~ Rossini's William Tell Overture (and if you're a Bugs Bunny fan, also his Barber of Seville)
~ Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries
~ Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance No. 1

Not everyone would necessarily be able to name the piece or even the composer, but I think most of those pieces are fairly recognizable in Western culture.

Well, that would have to be anything from the old Bugs Bunny cartoons, of course! I don't know how kids today get to know any classical music without Saturday morning cartoons.
