Well, I have the idea that in this country, the people that make that classification don't have the slightest idea of what is race, nationality, and some other things

That is a good question. It may because it's easier to lump everyone that speaks Spanish into on big group and call them Mexicans even though they are not from Mexico. In the 60's when a person of Spanish decent was born, the birth certificate said "white" because there were only too options- black and white back then.. People are lazy and don't want to take the time to learn the differences between cultures, nationalities or race.. technically- there is only one race- human.

I don't think that being "Mexican" is considered a race. I think that it adds to being "Hispanic" which is a race (I think??) and a lot of Americans just tie being Hispanic to being Mexican because Mexico is a neighboring country to us.

I don't know.. Maybe because a lot of American's don't want Mexican to be a nationality because a lot of people think they're boarder jumpers.. I don't know really.

I don't think that they know that Hispanics are considered Caucasian.
