I am scheduled to go in August and I want to look forward to it but Pickens? Any info anyone out there has pls give it to me. This is my vacation ( my only one this year) and I am going w my brother and he is paying- I was laid off. sooooo I want to look forward to this but!

Its really pretty I have been camping there several times and if you enjoy camping and being outdoors and natural scenery then yes hop on it and go!

You don't even know where you are going. Table Rock Resort is not in TN it is in Pickens South Carolina in Upstate SC close to where TN and NC all converge ( I lived in Western NC for 5 years).
Not sure where you are coming from and what kind of lifestyle you are used to, but there are a couple of things to suggest. If you need to go into a city, then Greenville SC is your best bet and not too far away (about 30 miles). For an amazing mountain village with great shopping and food, venture over to Highlands NC (maybe 47 miles). Of course you can take a day trip over to Asheville (70 miles or two hours away) and do the Biltmore Estate. However, unless you Brother has deep pockets, that is a little pricey. Keowee Toxaway state park is nearby Pickens and has a huge lake.
To enjoy a resort in an area like Pickens, you have to like the outdoors and scenery - Mountains and the like. Looks like they have some good golfing too. Also, you best like heat and humidity. The upstate can be pretty hot even in the foothills area.
Of course if you are interested in a little more action, then you can come to NYC (773 miles and 15 hours 22 minutes)
PS-There is a reason I don't live down there anymore. But, it is a nice place to visit. Enjoy and hope you find work, then you can finance your own trip to wherever you want to go.
