This is part of my coursework or I can't get the course I want next year! It's Religious Studies, so any religious reasons for having children would be best please. This has to be in by the 30th (Friday). If possible I also want to know the implications of artificial pregnancy methods for those who take part and the children produced from a religious stance.

Regligous wise, God created Adam and Eve so that they may procreate and generations should follow, what you can infer from this is that God wants us to multiply so that he (GOD) could have all of us (his children) live life for him...in his glory...God made me in his image, God made my boyfriend in his image, imagine what it would be like for my boyfriend and I have a child and what he/she would look like, and what they would be like when they get older with the teaching of God instilled in their life...Good luck on your paper.

There is an old saying " A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on"
Having children give parents a stake in the future, it is their way of living on after they die. It is seeing a part of yourself starting life over again.
When you are in love having a child brings that love to a full circle. It is creating a new person that embodies the traits of your lover and yourself. This makes having a child a huge emotional investment. I am a parent and I would do anything for my sons, no sacrifice is too great because ever since they were born I have known they would always come first in my life. I hope this helps a bit.

I think it's part of our inherent programming from the beginning of man. e.g. women are nurturers and men are gatherers. It's just a natural follow up to relationships. I believe religious families look at children as a loving gift; while others may not. I've read stories of extreme child abuse and neglect--which is worse? It's my belief that children brought up in a home with God are kinder, more tolerant and far less selfish. I think you have to go to the church direct for answers to your questions regarding artificial pregnancy. They may all differ in their opinions. I would be appalled to think different religions would not look upon those children in a kind light.

Since its religious, well, the bible said: you explore and spread the word of Jesus.---not exactly the right words but the meaning was. The more children, the more people, the more who will spread HIS words. this is not much of help i know...sorry.

Someone to dress in all those cool kids clothes, buy toys for, etc.

Someone to teach things to and share experiences with.

Someone to inherit your stuff, business, loot, etc.

Because it's "normal"/ because your parents want grandkids
Because you might regret missing the experience.

Some one to love, nuture, and grow with.

Well, from a Mormon point of view (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) I believe that families were organized even before any of us were born here on this physical earth. I believe that we lived as spirit children in a place called the pre-mortal realm, close to or in the presence of our Heavenly Father. I believe that we were loved and cherished, trained and educated, and allowed to develop talents that fit our own unique personalities - whether that was sports, intellectual pursuits, art, music, etc., and now on earth we are here for a part of a test to re-develop those talents on the basis of faith. We believe in the importance of the family unit as part of the Plan of Happiness that God adheres to for all of His children. I believe that we all made promises, or covenants, in the pre-mortal realm, to prepare to have families to help those children re-develop themselves on the earth with the physical bodies that are created by a mother and father who are married. By having children and raising a family, we learn more about how to be like our Heavenly Father (really, it would be more correct to say Heavenly Parents). I believe that it is important to prepare to have those children naturally and in the confines of marriage. For those who are married and are unable to have children, I believe that it is acceptable to use careful methods to have children. From my Church's point of view, I believe we favor adoption, artificial insemination using the actual husband's sperm first, and fertility drugs under the direction of a physician. I do not know any families who have used the sperm of other donors, but that is not outside the bounds of reasonable means as long as the parents have prayed about it. All of these methods would pre-suppose that the married couple remain faithful to each other - there is no justifiable reason to have intercourse with someone else outside of marriage. I do have a married fourth cousin whose wife had quadruplets after taking fertility drugs, and they were awesome children who have graduated from high school by now, I believe. Now in the case of families who live worthy of being sealed in the temple of the Lord - a special ordinance we believe will reunite families even after loved ones die, I believe that parents can have all children - whether they were had naturally or adopted - sealed to them. This means that their family relationship can continue even after our physical lives on this earth are over, and past the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the Resurrection into the next stage of life. If a couple gets married and sealed in a temple before they have children, all children born to them will automatically be sealed to them as part of the temple covenant. Personally, I think I will have 4 or 5 children sometime. I used to want about 6 or 8 children, but 4 or 5 sounds about right now. Oh, and I might add - that because I believe that the law of chastity is a law given by God, that the blessings of children should be reserved for a man and a woman who are legally married. There is no approval of same-sex "marriages" whatsoever. We were all made aware of an official Declaration on the Family to make sure that these standards were made universally known. Have a happy day, and good luck with your project.
