It has been asked a couple times here, and the answer is yes, when you are swimming hard, your body still needs to cool down more than what the water is cooling it. Thats why you sweat.. if you dont believe me, look at swimmers when they finish their races... are they red? .. if the answer is yes.. their body temp is high.. even if they are surrounded by water they will sweat

No. You sweat because it is natures way of keeping your body cool. The sweat keeps your skin cool. When swimming, you are in the water so there is no need for your body to sweat.

Yes! we do but at a lesser rate than most other athletes. On average, we lose about 1 1/2 liters of fluid per hour. This means that fluid hydration is important. You may not feel sweat but hydration is SO vital to your performance. The general guidelines are:
12 or more oz. per hour for 2 hours before practice
4-6 oz per 15 MIN. during practice (more is better)
32 oz per hour for 2 hours after practice
OR
weigh yourself before practice and after practice. For each pound you lose, drink 16 oz or fluids.
IF YOU LOSE 2% OF YOUR BODY WEIGHT YOU ARE DEHYDRATED!!!
and remember studies have shown that water is NOT enough during practice...a 6-8% carbohydrate drink with electrolytes works best...anything over doesn't make a significant difference.
HAPPY SWIMMING!

yes, you sweat in most physical activities. While swimming you may not notice it because you are already wet from the water you are swimming in

oh yes! Ever jump in the pool and its freezing and then after a couple laps the water is just fine? Your body has warmed up from the workout and it's going to sweat just the same.
