i was using the term "emo" as a generalisation...does it really matter what it exactly is? i was just wondering about people's taste in music.

okay. P!ATD, The Academy Is..., Nightmare Of You, Fall Out Boy and Yellowcard and not "emo" music. sure the lyrics are emotional but show me any lyrics that don't show emotion. i don't think you understand the concept of emo.

Emo (an abbreviation of "emotionally-driven Hardcore punk") is a term now broadly used to describe almost any form of guitar-driven alternative rock that expresses emotions beyond traditional punk's limited emotional palette of alienation and rage. It is also used to describe fans of this genre, most commonly teenagers.
now that you know what emo is, go listen to some emo music. Then when you realise you dont like it remove this question or reword it.
Panic! may have emo-influence in their music but they are not emo. Nor are fall out boy, the academy is... or nightmare of you
yellowcard are emo, so you're on the right track i guess

I looooveeeee fall out boy!!! Panic! At The Disco is pretty awesome, Yellowcard is ok......... i dont know if Dashboard Confessional is emo but I like them........

i really like panic at the disco and fall out boy yellow card is ok 2 the only thing is i moved to a relly small town perhaps you've heard of it hickville hell lol j/k no but no one seems to know any of these bands

yeah I love all those!!! I think I am a bit of an emo, but I'm not quite sure. I'm kind of an indescribable mix of punk, goth, skater, hippie, etc, etc, etc. I think emo is in there somewhere........

I love emo music, really gotten in to it lately, it rocks, but then again so does Punk and Rock. i can listen to anything but mainly those. lol
