I do not hate Americans but I understand those that do.
The global view of America is an arrogant nation that patronises smaller countries That will twist and bend rules and apply pressure to achieve short term goals (next election due) affording scant respect for those of different cultures. There is no understanding of these cultures merely the average american is bewildered as to why other people do not want to be more like them.
Just a consideration the cold war is littered with cases of American subversion of independent nations The CIA embroiled in scandal after scandal Why? To stop KGB subversion of these same nations so why did the CIA get caught with their hand in the cookie jar and not the KGB not even once. People particulary of the Third World resent the fact that America used this anti KGB front to bribe agitate and generally interfere in local politics
The USA in my opinion has overall tried to make the world a better place but as a rule it generally forgot to consult the locals (a principle of democracy) usually because America knew what was best for them and then was usually so Ham Fisted in its efforts that what good it did try to achieve was lost in the mess

I think your question isn't worded right as I don't hate Americans so much as I hate Americanization. The difference is policy vs. people. I hate American foreign policy as it exploits rather than builds. I like American people. America has for too long stressed that Democracy and Secular law are the best methods of governance and rammed those ideas down the throats of others despite not asking what they want.

The other issue is that you sit there in America and WASTE is the word of the day when we scrimp and scrape just to get by you literally use more resources than any other country in the World. Ask yourself...are you more productive as a result?

I think Sadam was a poor excuse for a human being but so is Bush and Cheney. They only wanted to invade for their own greed and personal gain and sieze the Iraqi oil. I think Bush and Cheney should be on trial as well for crimes against humanity and be considered terrorosts! I am embarassed and ashamed of the current administration at the White House. God Bless America and God Save America from evil politians who use our military to make them wealthier. North Korea is more of a threat than Iraq was but you wont see Bush doing anything about it because there is no money to be made by attacking North Korea.

I know and have met many Americans and love them as individuals.

I think that Americans collectively get a bad reputation based on their media's portrayal of them as self-centred, power hungry and ignorant of the rest of the world at large, as well as their complete and trivial obsession with the private lives of celebrities. This makes people think that you all have nothing better to do.

Then of course, there George Dubya and the backwoods redneck hick-in-a-suit image that he portrays of Americans.

Clearly, not an accurate representation of your average American citizen, who, by and large are intelligent and informed.

Unfortunately, George is simply a puppet whose strings are pulled by a far more ominous administration whose primary goal is to bomb less evolved countries in the name of "war or terra" in order to gain power and money in the form of their natural resources, mostly oil.

It also has to do with the American governments "we know what's best for you" attitude toward other cultures. Americans seem to think that every culture should be like them. They don't appear to have any respect for the fact that the world is comprised of many different types of cultures and that the American "culture" is made up from a combination of all of these. While I agree that we cannot sit aside and ignore situations such as genocide, we can't simply go in and force other countries to do as we do.

I don't hate you. I think that you are different than people from where I am from, but that's completely normal. I don't like politics of USA, but that's another question. Innocent, ordinary people have nothing to do with it...

I believe it was Southpark that said it best .... the fact that you don't know why they hate us IS why they hate us.

Southpark can be just brilliant at times.
