The Confederate flag came about durring the civil war between the northern states and the southern states. At the time the southern states were fighting to keep their slavery rights. This is where some people assume that the confederate flag means that the white people hate the black people. This is not true. The southern states needed the slave labor to tend to the fields which produced most if not all of plantation owner's income. The confederate flag stands for more than just slavery, it is an important item from our history. Southern Carolina used to fly the flag over its state house until recently. Those who still wave the flag aren't all haters of black people, they just believe in the southern way of life and the history of the south. Now, some people are still ignorant and still judge a person by the color of their skin, but those individuals are all around the world and fly many different flags.

From my personal perspective, I like to think of the term "redneck" as meaning "A glorious absence of sophistication." However, many people automatically equate "redneck" with "racist". Quite true in the past, but I don't think that is the case so much today.
Same with the "Stars and Bars" Confederate flag. Bearing that flag does not automatically translate to a person that hates blacks, but there is a history and stigma attached to it.

It could mean that they don't like blacks, hispanics, oriental etc. in some instances but for the most part they just like to display their Southern heritage, the Rebel flag as it is called gets a bad rap from a lot of people, but they should have the right to fly whatever they want. This is still America and we need to remember those that gave their lives so we can express ourselves. But lets not be abusive of this right also. Redneck just means they are southern for the most part and like to do countryboy things, drink, ride tractors wear boots, fly rebel flags, hunt, fish etc.

The confederate flag? Doesn't mean anything except if you are a redneck who thinks it means white supremacy or an angry black dude who thinks it mean whitey sux. It is just a flag for crying out loud, and the rest of the civilized world and the rest of America looks down on the people who apply racial overtones to it. Big deal, just deal

The confederate flag is a symbol of southern pride. It does not necessarily mean the person is a racist, they just take pride in their southern ancestry. Rednecks calling themselves rednecks is a form of self deprecation. It would be like a Polish person calling themselves a pollack or an Italian calling themselves dego. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

I don't know about the first flag you describe, but I can tell you that my elder son considers himself a redneck and is danged proud of it! LOL! In his book rednecks are backwoods, hillbilly types that cain't talk proper like. He's just joking. He's a truck driver and I guess, from what he says, a lot of people consider truckers to be rednecks, so he tries to live up to the image. All in good fun.

First you need an English lesson. The flag you might be referring to, if you could write like someone with a brain, is called the "Southern Cross". Like all flags, it's just basically a gang sign, something people use to say they belong to this gang (country, town, whatever) or that gang.

it means they are from the South. and are proud of the heritage.
Remember the style when alot of hip pop wore the color of the African nation. Its the same thing.
unfortunately some hate groups use that flag to promote their hate, Most just use it for the South in general. It dose not mean anti black. Really it dose not.

I do not understand when someone claims that the confederate flag is just a symbol of southern pride and is not rascist. They lost a war to try and keep slavery legal. So are they proud that they are losers? Or are they proud that they wanted to keep slavery. And what is with these idiotic songs claiming that the South is going to do it again? Do what? Lose another war? Or develop another backwards society?
