I believe they would if they had to live off the very little given in social security... But they don't worry about it, as they will never have to live off of the little over $600 a month (way below poverty level)...
Although, people today use SS as a way to retire, when it was originally designed to help penioners back when it was created. It wasn't meant as a sole income...

Congress are not fools they don't favor that little dollar 2 nintyeight verify each month with cost of living will strengthen $25.00 and the will strengthen Medicare B $20 the position you won't be able to make a 0.5 way respectable living off of Social protection. Bush has such assorted IOU's in that lock field that bill Clinton does no longer contact, that their no longer something yet IOU's left in the lock field out of your President Bush. Social protection tests are interesting, there on the utmost $a million,000.00 might want to you proceed to exist 1000 funds minus $ninety.00 Medicare B. those are only some off the wall figures i have informed through some elderly people and Disabled adolescents. President Roosevelt would turn over in his grave if he knew what Bush has finished to Social protection. Bush needed it put in inventory privatize it the position at the same time as the inventory went busted all the those who do not own houses are going to be street people. those that do own the abode taxes are so intense they'd ought to promote out. Congress is smarter than that , they understand what a sad, unhappy difficulty Social protection is in, Bush had to tax what little bit the Socail protection tests are and congress does no longer vote it in, he's sorriest poorest excuse of a guy I easily have ever heard of..

The logic for the lawmakers cushy benefits was to keep their minds on their jobs and off outside interests. Too bad it hasn't worked.
Many congressmen have been seduced by tobacco companies in years past. Now oil, insurance and pharmaceutical companies have their attention.
Social Security would be fine and in good shape if it would be funded by all Americans and not just the middle class. I remember a few good politicians advocating using the trillion dollar surplus that is now gone as deposit to the Social Security bank for many years in the future.
The rich have invested in tax breaks from lawmakers. Many lawmakers who are wealthy themselves, returned the favor with policies to reward the most influential with the biggest tax breaks right in front of your eyes.

I think that all of our leaders who think harder about the way things are done if it actually effected them too. Like Bush, if his butt was on the front lines instead of sitting behind a desk watching it on a tv, the rest of ours guys would already be back home with their families too, like he is every night I'd like to know how some of our leaders can sleep at night with a clear conscience. If I had sent all these young people over there to be slaughtered like they are being I could not sleep at night whether it was for our countries own good or not.

We need to insist that Congress participate in Social security and medicare if we are ever going to fix it. They have the best of everything for themselves and do little for the American people. The only way they will fix it is if it hits"home" and affects them personally.

They would most definitely revamp it if they had to worry about living off of the money it provides.
