Nice choice to have; both have potential to be franchise players. Ovechkin had a slightly better rookie year (in my opinion; not everyone agrees), and is a little bigger. Crosby may be a little more creative, and may "see" the ice better (what used to be termed as "hockey sense").
Personally; I'd take Crosby, but not by much. I wouldn't have a problem with being "stuck" with Ovechkin. Besides, I prefer CCM (Ovechkin) to RBK (Crosby).

Sidney Crosby with out a doubt.
Crosby is 2 years younger than Ovechkin and has less experience and is still an equal right now. In a couple years Crosby is going to blow Ovechkin out of the water. Plus Crosby is the heart of his team. In his first year he is the top scorer. In a few years the Penguins will be in the playoffs possibly Stanley Cup winners and that will be because of the confidence that Crosby brings to the team.

The way I look at it Ovechkin had time to develop in Russia playing against men in the PRO league over there. Crosby played Major Junior A over here in Canada and made the jump from Junior A to Pro on his first attempt without playing in the minors as so many young players do. For him to accomplish everything he did last season with the 103 points which I believe only put him behind Ovenchkin and his 106 for rookie scoring.
Ovechkin may have had more goals, but when it comes down to it I would rather have a player who is unselfish and is willing to dish the puck out to his teammates.
Hands down I take Sidney Crosby.

Ovechkin!! Crosby is a wimp!! And far too immature to be playing at this level. I agree he will be an outstanding player and maybe one day he will be better than Ovechkin, but for now, Alexander is the better player, and he will always be, the better rookie.

Easily Alexander Ovechkin because he is such a good player and he has a Calder Trophy and the cover man for NHL 07 to show for it. Sidney Crosby is too much of a cry baby.

I would take Ovechkin any day. He is a great player and a team player. All year Sidney Crosby was criticizing his team and putting them down. Ovechkin was on a better team, but he made that team better. Sidney was a great player, but i would want Ovechkin over him as a teammate any day.

Ovechkin can skate and stick handle circles around Crosby. Ovechkin has been playing against NHL calliber players for the past 3 or 4 years, he has the advantage. Plus talent!!!!
