Haha I love how you post this in the Phoenix Arizona section and everyone is saying the beach! LMAO. The closet thing we have to a beach is Lake Pleasant.
Being from Phoenix, I would say a nice place to go on a date would be ice skating or mini golfing. Castles and Coasters is a great place to go and have a fun date. That's where me and my fiance went for our first date. We mini golfed. This gave us a chance to talk and get to know each other and still have some fun.

Restaurants are tough first dates because no one wants to talk with food in their mouth, and you really need to talk on a first date to know if you'll want a second. A movie isn't that great for the same reason. You're sitting beside a stranger for 1.5 - 2 hours without communicating. What good is that?
Go to a zoo, museum, or somewhere where there's something to talk about besides yourselves. I had a guy take me to an arcade on our first date. It was relaxing. We played video games and had lots to talk about besides the usual get-to-know-you crap. Bits and pieces of personal information come out, but it doesn't feel so pressured.
If you both have cars, take separate vehicles and meet there. That way if either of you is not having a good time, you can go your own way. Plan the date to be just the museum. If you both hit it off and want more time together, you can ask the other to continue the date elsewhere (dinner at this point would be ok). If you're both interested, you can continue elsewhere. If one of you isn't, it's easy to make a quick excuse that you already had other plans.

I think that depending on how well you know the person depends on where you should go on a date. If you're just getting to know this person, go somewhere theres a lot of people because you never know what can happen. And Never Mix dating with alcohol and drugs. Just doesnt work out. But a restaurant, the movies, the mall, you know that type of stuff. Those are great places to go for a date. Hope I helped atleast a little.

Barcelona?
It's kind of an open-ended question. I think the best place to go is somewhere that you like to go when you are splurging a little on yourself. If it is a first date, it will give him/her an impression of who you really are. I like nature, especially oceans, myself, but sometimes a date needs the company of some modern trappings (music, good food, a place to dance, a little entertainment, etc.) Really, your idea is probably what's best for you because your choices will help you find a partner who is really in tune with you!
Good Luck

It depends on the person, some people like to go to the beach and have fun, while others like going to a nice dinner and having a romantic time. Then there is always the option of movies, picnics or walk in the park. It all depends on the persons personality! Have fun on your date :)

Out to eat, then something fun. A real fun date is a dinner at one of those places where a play is going on. So fun.

One of the best places would be the beach. Pack a lunch, bring a blanket, beach umbrella or sit under a nice shady tree and bring music.

A walk around the park. You get to walk and talk :) It's nice. Who wants to sit in the movies? It's dark in there, and you can't talk..so yeah I say a park is the best place to go.

Call me crazy, but I say the best place to go is Church.
Here's why:
1. You know they are not a party animal, 'cause they have to get up on Sunday morning.
2. You know immediately that you have somehting in common (God).
3. You can have breakfast afterward, which is much less than dinner.
