There seems to be a definite lack of ethical standards in our people today. Sexual promiscuity is accepted as "normal", lies and taking what you want without paying seems to be a game. The only real interest now seems to be "What do I get out of this?".
Look out for number one, the bottom line, net profit, reguardless of the cost. Low or no ideals any more. The only goals seem to be to get more than the next guy.
"He who dies with the most toys wins" There is no more pioneer spirit which made thes country what it is. No more take nothing and make something out of it. Now it is take something and see how fast we can make nothing out of it. Tear it down, trash it, paint grafitti on it, Whatever will make it less than it was intended to be by the one who created it.
A sad end to a once great idea. Give all men an equal chance and
man will create a great nation with the best of everything. And it worked for a while. I am afraid that time has passed and we are on the downhill swing.

The only way for us to stop the moral decay is for the parents now to believe in the word of God which does not change and parent this generation. To stop looking at the joneses new rig and house and see the children they have as a value that cannot be superceded. Love is spelled t-i-m-e. We all have to do our part to parent and let these kids know what is acceptable. parents have to quit taking the easy way out and letting the electronic devices parent their kids. until we spend the time and invest in the next generation, things will not change for the better. We have to equip them. We have 18-20 years to do it. If each one does their part, We can change the world.

To stop the moral decay, we need to condemn - or at least not listen to - 'christians' who preach bigotry, hatred and discrimination; and those who say that their religion is the only true religion. They have certainly decayed from the teachings of Jesus, and forget the "judge not" portions of their beliefs.
Regarding the financial aspects you mention, I think the main thing that can be done is to teach our children there is more to life than material things. That's difficult in today's world! Spend time with them reading a book, or going to a park, and you will show them that happiness comes from something other than expensive presents.

Starts at home. We are raising kids in front of the internet, the television set, and video games. People are so busy nowadays that their is an almost 'lack of interest' in our kids. When I was young, Mother use to take us to Bloomingdales everyday. Now, that was quality time. Oh. How I miss those days of yore.

I feel we need to stop endulging our children and begin to make them more responsible for there actions. Making them aware of the communities that they live in. Teaching them compassion for other people by starting community service groups in youre area. They need to learn it truly is better to give than recieve. Stop bailing them out of jams they get into by there own actions. There is so much more to life than things. Our children walk around feeling empty and they really need direction. Look back to the fifties our parents didnt give us cell phones, ipods, we did chores and learned how to handle our own responsabilities. We didnt watch TV for endless hours our play computer games all day. We rode bikes, skated, played outdoors and learned how to use our imaginations. We were taught morals and respect for others. I know I sound like a fuddy dud but we need to get back to a simplier life our things are only going to get worse from here. Thanks for listening.

Ok I think Doug is way off. Gay ppl have morals just like the rest of us. What they do behind closed doors is their business. I'm sure ppl would be shocked at the behavior of alot of straight ppl and what they do behind closed doors too.
All you can really do about the decay in our country is pray to whomever is your choice, hang on, and hope you raised your kids right.

the only reason people see this country in "decay" is because no one wants to compromise...
there's too many things that are taboo and shouldn't be...
we're in 2006, ya know... not 1956...
if you think things are "decaying" then you're looking at it too negatively...
the problem with this country has nothing to do with "sexual morals" and more to do with ethics...
why is being gay and wanting to be married bad?
why isn't murdering middle eastern people in the name of god and country bad?
that's a true example of moral decay...

Moral decay is a myth. We are a society with many cultures. No one is better than another..... deal with it or move to the moon.
