If he is refusing it, he probably isn't ready for it. Any new food will have a new texture as well, and that will take getting used to as well. Sometimes finger foods (cheerios) go over well, as they can do this themselves. But teeth and sitting up well are important first.
A helpful note though:
buy fresh veggies (carrots and sweet potatoes are good to start with), steam them completely, blend them in a blender (one veggie at a time, not together), then freeze in an ice cube tray. This give you the chance to make a batch, and only have to defrost one serving at a time. You also know that the only thing your child is getting is the VEGGIE, and no preservatives.

Maybe he's just not ready for solids yet. Most babies are ready for solids between 6 and 12 months old. Signs of readiness include sitting unsupported, appearance of teeth, and development of the "pincer grasp"--when a baby picks up small objects between the thumb and *one* finger. If he has at least 2 (but preferably all 3) of these, he may be ready for solids; otherwise, he isn't.

Well what kind of formula are you using? that could be your problem
I recommend Nestle Goodstart DHA/ARA. Similac and enfamil are very hard for a child to digest expecially since you've stopped breastfeeding. also bottles are a big factor too..I recommend playtex ventaire Natural shape or dr browns widenecks to reduce the air intake.
and then if switching formulas doesnt work..be persistant on feeding him/her solids. Make rice cereal in a bottle (dr browns w/ cereal nipple) i know everyone says not to do that..but it really works great. and start with veggies(carrots, peas) for 2 weeks..then switch to a fruit (applesauce, pears) for 2 weeks.

No, they don't favor solids at that age. this is purely to get them used to eating. as long as he's nursing he's fantastic. keep attempting solids and he will commence wanting them back in some days. He may no longer experience good, or his the teeth may be bothering him. do not problem, this too shall pass!

My daughter didn't start on solids until she was one. We offered but she didn't want them at all. Maybe he's just not ready to make the switch.
If you want you could try letting him feed himself. I know he is young but it might make him feel better if he's in control. You will obviously have a huge mess and most of the food will probably end up on his clothes or high chair, but he might enjoy it anyway.

Just don't give up on the solids, mine decides when she wants it and when she doesn't. Lately she won't open her mouth for it...just keep trying that's all you can do. It's only been a month since you have stopped breastfeeding so it might just take a little longer!

don't worry too much as long as you are still giving him formula for his nutritional needs. acourding to the American Academy of Pediatrics some babys are not ready for solids till 8 months.
keep offering solids but don't force it your baby is eating enough with just the formula

My daughter didn't really like it at first but I tried acting like I was eating it and making noises like it was really good then she started to like them. Also don't stick with one food until he starts to like solids. Before I tried pretend eating the food I experimented with different foods until she started eating more. She's 7 months now and will barly touch a bottle.

Don't worry - he is not too old to still just have liquids. He will eat solids when he is ready - and probably in the next couple of months. Just don't force them.
