all right i just heard that Fifa and this company called Unicef are doing this thing using football (soccer) to promote peace and teamwork with kids and they are using David Beckam as their poster boy. And frankly I was very mad because i think that if you are going to use a role model... use someone that had hardship in there childhood... not some rich guy from england that pays more attention to his hair than his game. What do you think? and who should be the poster man?

David Beckham is internationally known. I think it is great he is lending support to such an effort. Does he pay more attention to his hair? I thought he was a good player. Don't you think using David will get more attention than using an unknown? Unicef made millions using Abba, Olivia Newton John, Andy Gibb and others in the 70s.

Why isn't BeckHam a good role model? He has worked hard to become 'some rich guy from England' he has cleverly used the avenues open to him to get to the top of his game. He has also done lots of child related charity work, a small bit of research would show you this.
He is also an internationally recognised figure and it is that sort of wide reaching promotion that UNICEF need.

UNICEF by the way is not a company, it is the United Nations Childrens Fund, a huge charity and David Beckham is almost certainly giving his internationally recognised face for free.

David Beckham first joined forces with UNICEF in December 2005 to help raise awareness of fundraising for the Tsunami and the children that were killed in that disaster. So he went to them and offered his services. Also i believe that the Beckham's world cup pre-party was to raise funds for UNICEF.

I hope that knowing that he went to assist them helps you to feel less 'mad' about them using him as a poster boy for their campaign.

i agree with you
of course filthy rich ppl like beckham would support charity, they have a whole ton of money and no hard work...jus go show ur face in huge billboards or dish out a ton of money for charity

the real ppl are those that have actually gone to places that need help, provided heartfelt help and talked to people. not showing off their faces for posters...

I have to agree w/the first poster. He is easily reconized so that is why they will use him. I know nothing about soccer but I know who Beckham is...so it would bring attention to their cause.
