ok for the first answer they say "kryptonite, radioactive peices of his homeland, deadly, to him"

Like elements have similar effects on one another. For instance, if you paint a coat of an oil based paint for the first coat, you can't use latex to paint over it. You have to use another coat of an oil based paint.
Remember that old commercial for getting out grass stains? Protein gets out Protein.
If you look at humans. What harms us the most? It is cells that look like our own cells, but they either eat up our bodies nutrients that would otherwise have gone to our normal healthy cells.

because krypton had a red sun, where as earth has a yellow sun. superman draws his powers from the sun, and kryptonite is almost like an antidote for that.
