Well yes they are married, BUT, they could be separated and waiting for the divorce to become final.

This is probably just noting the way taxes are withheld from the paycheck. Some people like to have more money taken out during the year so that they get a big refund in the spring. Others like to have as little as possible taken out of their paychecks in order to not give the government a free loan.

It just depends upon how they filed their W-9 forms with their employer.

If it's someone you're dating or considering dating, do more research on the person to see if they're married. Don't just rely on the paycheck stub.

Are you dating someone who is married but told you they were single??? It is possible that this person is now divorced or sep and files married for tax purposes. But that doesn't make any sense - I am married and my husband and I both claim single than file as married to get more money back. Most couples do it that way - I've never heard of someone doing it the other way around (claiming married than filing single) so I would look into it -- you may be with a married person.............. Although - I am no tax expert so what do I know?

Was this person married before? Maybe if they just got out of a marriage they haven't changed their status at work. Or could be that they are married and using you......do some more investigating......pull a background check on them.....good luck

Probably. It could be he is separated or divorced and the stub hasn't changed yet. BUT, if he was being honest with you you would know that already. Sounds like you might be wise to get out now.
