I'm not sure exactly what you mean but everything in life has a purpose - whether is good and bad. Whenever it's good take it for what it is and treasure it, but if it's bad - learn your lesson and remember that it could always be worse.

A good ting have a always some purpose and is always attached to something,and when you are doing something good that make you happy.

.....irrespective of ones purpose, time and chance is likely to play a part.
Although one could follow of the hedonistic path and not care outside ones own personal enjoyment a la Bacchus.
