...that the husband on the program is alwayws overweight and unattractive, but his wife is always thin and beautiful? I never understand that. I feel as if society is trying to make it okay for men to not care about their apperance but to reinforce the idea that women need to remain beautiful and slim.

My mom and I were just talking about that! That's soo weird. But yeah you usually see the overweight man on the couch eating chips and watching football while the wife is thin and attractive and working in the kitchen. What gives?

They actually DID have an overweight woman in a Lean Cuisine commercial a couple of years ago, but they got terrible feedback on it. Do you remember it? Four women are talking about what they ate the night before. The first three ate terrible things, but the fourth one at this wonderful lean cuisine meal. Problem was, she was the fattest woman out of the four! So the message seemed to be: eat this wonderful food and be bigger than everyone else. Funny.

Bottom line is that those overweight and unattractive men are funny. You can be fat if you're funny. But only if you're a guy. The general viewing public doesn't want to see a fat woman, even if she's funny. There are exceptions, but they only prove the rule.

That's because women love men for more than their looks. Men are more superficial, they're physical beings, where as women are emotional. I heard it best put that a man has to have sex to be satisfied but all a woman needs is to know that a man wants to have sex with her. Not exactly true but, its a funny way to think about it.

I totally agree.
You can see the effect in the real world.
You hear of a lot more anorexic girls than guys.
I'm not saying that there aren't any anorexic guys out there but there are a lot more anorexic women and girls than there are guys.

i definately have to agree with you on that... i am packing a few extra pounds and i feel like no guy likes me because TV always puts on these extremely thin and gorgeous girls and that's how everyone should think it is... not everyone is that luck to turn out that way...

Yes, I agree...
On the upside, it gives false hope to all those losers out there who DO let themselves go, thinking they can still get women like that as fat, lazy slobs....hehehe
