"Classification" is how scientists group and categorize extinct and living species of organisms. For example, in classifying people this is how we are classified.
Kingdom=Animalia
Phylum=Chordata
Class=Mammalia
Order=Primates
Family=Hominidae
Genus=Homo
Species=Homo Sapiens

"Variation" is how individuals of the same species differ from each other.
In animals, these variations might include: eye color, hair color, skin color, height, length, etc.
In plants, these variations might include: flower color, shape of leaf, etc.

kind of a guess, but i'd reckon that classification put things into groups of related areas - like a family of plants. Could variation mean things that are grouped because of their difference from other matter????hahah. total guess. try wikipedia.
