Because the ACLU is a secular humanistic organization. Secular humanism preaches that there are no moral absolutes. Religions (Christianity included) teach that there are moral absolutes. This sets up an irreconcilable conflict.
Because Christianity is viewed as "intolerant" (in that it does not tolerate immoral behaviour), free speech by Christians is not viewed to have the same value as the free speech of others. As such, the ACLU and other organizations see little merit in protecting Christians' free expression.

As a Christian I must intercede. The ACLU atempts to protect the right of all American citizens to practice free speech. The organization is not targeting Christians, Republicans, Democrats or anyone. It is rather concerned with those groups who like to impose their beliefs and moral values on others (encouraged by most Christian faiths) and maintain a separation between religion and the establishment so that all American citizens can practice the religion of their choice as is their constitutional right and the wish of our founding fathers. If the ACLU was interested in taking away free speech from Christians, then why aren't they at your church on Sunday morning trying to stop the music or the preacher?

You ever notice that there are ignorant people that get on here and just jabber the talking points from MoveOn, TruthOut, or DailyKos? If you don't actually RESEARCH things then you shouldn't post...morons.
I liked the moron who said the ACLU goes after ALL religions in public schools. What planet are you living on? Hello McFly, there is a federal court case pending from California dealing with islam in public schools. It seems that a public school in California (of course) MADE students dress like muslims, learn about islam, and they had to recite the muslims prayers in a PUBLIC school. Did the ACLU bring suit? NO. It was brought by private individuals. Why can islam be taught in PUBLIC schools, but you mention Christianity and BOOM...your slapped with a lawsuit courtesy of the Anti-Christian Lawyers Union.
Bunch of retards...

Ok, with regard to so many Christians out there, it's not about freedom of speech. It's about freedom of religion! Why do so many Christians try to push their beliefs on others? And don't say that it doesn't happen. It does. I'm Jewish, and my Christian friends have all tried to get me to convert at one point or another, and my best friend's wife doesn't like him being around me because I don't feel the same way about God that they do.
The ACLU fights for freedom of speech for everyone, but they also fight to protect so many other things, especially freedom of religion and the separation of church and state. It's really nothing personal.

You really need to do more research. The ACLU supports the rights of christians, as well as those of other faiths. They don't like to see anyone's rights being trampled upon.
It just seems that they have more cases against discrimination by the christians because the christians seem to be the ones trampling upon the rights of others most of the time.

Some Christians feel plenty of matters, and a few Christians feel that atheists have each proper to endeavor their freedom of speech. In a few instances, either side have interaction in insults and different poor habits that's directed closer to different organizations, and it isn't like Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists or any individual else has what you would name a monopoly on both being loving or imply-lively. Once once more, why do you so mainly unmarried out Christians for what a few of them feel while there are plenty of contributors and organizations that have interaction in unloving habits closer to their fellow humans? Best desires to you!

Were that your accusation was truthful, but, alas, it is not.

ACLU files appeal on behalf of prisoner who wants to preach at Christian services:

ACLU defends Catholic man from being coerced to convert at Pentecostal drug rehab center:

ACLU helps preserve baptisms in VA public park:

It may be convenient & even fun for some conservatives to villanize tha ACLU simply because the ACLU doesn't want tax dollars to be spent promoting one religion over another. But the truth is that the ACLU has consistently defended the rights of religious people against government threats to their religious freedoms in non-taxpayer-funded settings.
However, even if the facts don't agree with you re: the ACLU, believe what you want (that's what freedom of speech and of religion is all about.) :P
