As with Hip Hop and Rock -- over zealous parents and third party organizations will blame music for the crime or incident a person is party to.
Take for instance how many rock songs in the past have been used to blame for suicides, knowing full well, if someone was to commit suicide it wouldn't be because of the song they are listening to.
To date they blame gangsta rap for kids who are out there doing illegal things because they feel that the music influences them. Parents need to be responsible for their child's actions, not a rap label or album. If you are naive enough to believe that Ice Cube is putting the gun in your hand to commit murders, you are as crazy as a loon.
Music has always been a scapegoat for these reasons. Positive role models in someone's life as well as a good self-esteem is what people need -- blaming music for the failures of society is just plain stupid.

We blame eminem for kids shooting other kids and running away from home.
Why arent we blaming the person they got the gun from, or looking into their home life.
Gangs - peopel say if music didnt glorify gangs and drugs and guns there wouldnt be gangs.
Ridiculous gangs have been around since before hip hop. No one joins a gang because of G unit

Lots of people are blaming rap for at least some of the violent crimes in the US. Lots of other people are saying that 'it's not the rapper who puts the gun in the person's hand'. I say that the majority of people are idiots and will do what they think is cool, whether that happens to be wearing Abercrombie and Fitch or walking around with a gun talking **** to everyone. I think rap definitely contributes to the mindset that leads to many crimes. I think that anyone who ignores that are fooling themselves. I think rap does nothing but damage America, especially the black communities, whose kids think rappers are akin to Gods and grow up wanting to be like them. I think that you can't completely blame crime on rap music, but it is definitely part of the problem, not the solution. Yes, the parents are at fault too, more so than rap music, but rap definitely doesn't help. Why would anyone want to listen to that crap anyways? It's all the same.. recycled, borrowed beats and re-used lyrics... The last rapper who had anything worth saying was Tupac. All these guys rapping today have only one aspiration; another set of 24" spinners for their 82 Monte Carlo. People need to get a life, realize that isn't the way to go through it, and apply themselves to getting educated.

Murderers/rapists/child molesters blame hip hop and heavy metal or basically any genre of music that has adult themed lyrics. It's sad that they are so diminutive their refusal to take blame for their own actions makes them look even smaller.
