Yes. Music has more power than we realize in the moment. The latest scientific research proves that music enters our bodies in a three-dimensional form. It has the power to heal or to upset us.
Researchers suggest that we turn on music that matches our mood. Then we change the music to change our mood. For example, if we feel nervous or anxious, we should start by playing loud rock music that will match our mood. The next step is to play softer music. Finally, we should play very restful, peaceful music. That process will help calm us. On the other hand, if we're in a quiet mood, and we want to get energized, then we should begin with quiet music. Then we should play music that increasingly becomes more energetic.
Good luck!

Of all things I would have to say that mood is the #1 factor in predetermining what I listen to. If I'm ticked I'll usually listen to rock like Metallica. Sad, then usually blues or something mellow like B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn or Michael Buble (the slower stuff anyways). If I'm anxious or am in a smart/creative mood I'll listen to classical (Bach, Beethoven, Mozart). If I'm energetic or want to wake up I'll listen to swing, pop, rock, or hip-hop (Red Hot Chili Peppers, faster stuff from Michael Buble, and basically whatever's on the radio at the time that offers that kind of music). Tons of music to fit ever mood. I have to many people I listen to for each so I doubt I could list them all. That was just a few.

My mood definitely affects the music I listen to. If I am upset, I will listen to Joshua Kadison to calm me down. If I am trying to get motivated, I listen to D.J. Rectangle mixes to get me up and moving.

Yes it does but....listening to music can also alter a present mood I'm in. For example, maybe I'm in a bad mood and I'm wantin a slap in the face to shake me out of it. So, I'll pick out somethin that I know will accomplish that. If I'm lookin to get myself primed up for say....a sporting event, I'll pick out something for that.
Can't name just one type of music as I subscribe to diversity.
