They have to provide the short term. People need to be helped now and they need to be healed too. The cure is a longer process then a small fix.
I am waiting on a cure for Acid Reflux.

As Chris Rock put it "There is no money in the cure". The last major disease we cured was polio and we can't even cure athlete's foot. I think we have seen the last of all out cures for diseases. They are going to find ways for us to manage and thrive while diseased but they won't cure us. It's like everything else in commerce -- things are generally built to break eventually because the big business is in replacements parts and services. The scientific community has said with confidence that they can make serious leaps and bounds with stem cell research (see if you can follow the process) so the pharmaceutical companies who have the most to lose if this happens go to the people they give a lot of money to, politicians (mostly the republican party) who in turn goes to the Christan right and tells them this is an issue about killing babies. Politicians don't care about killing babies. Heck, I wonder how many have been killed in this war but what they do care about is that fat check they get every month from the drug companies to look the other way while they hide treatments (they make a business out of buying out new drug research) and often make things worse with the drugs they do put out. Capitalism has turned on us as a country. It has become more about big business and keeping that richest 1% rich while the rest of us stay poor. Last time government tried to do something on this scale...we had a little something called a revolution.

Drug companies make there money off of selling the medication. If cure was discovered that's money out of there pocket.
They would only be concerned about a cure if they contracted the illness or a love one.

There is no money in a cure....I have personally heard doctors at the hospital I work at say that...and also Pharmecutical reps are always at the hospital buying the doctors lunch and sending them on trips and stuff just to push the latest pill that came out...Its sick the way our system works actually. It really does make more sence from a greed standpoint to only give someone the chance to live longer and pay more payments then to just cure them one time.

every individual is different right...what works for other people won't mean the treatment would work exactly the same as the others. so they conduct an experiment focusing on the symptoms and see which one actually works

If they cure you who will purchase their drugs?
Because 75% diseases (almost all non -infectious diseases) can be treated without medicine at almost no cost as compared to drug treatment.

You are absolutely 100% correct. Congress doesn't pressure them either because they are in the pockets of big medicine interests.
