Try to keep strecthing, and excercise as much as possible, however you can.

Ive suffered with severe Fibro since 1992, and I know one thing for sure: You/We need alot more sleep than "normies" do, and that getting outside to watch the world, bird watching, ride my horse etc. has been the best therapy Ive found yet.
It doesnt kill the pain but gets my mind off of it for awhile.

Find someting that you can STILL do & that you love--then do it as much as possible! Fibro not only messes up our bodies but also f***'s with our brains, so keeping occupied is important. Go for walks & anything else you like to do outdoors, and take your meds.

Of course my entire life revolves around pain meds, but the hardest part was coming to terms with & accepting that I have FMS.
Beware of depression!
It almost took me over the edge, Ive had it so long and got it at such a young age that I almost didnt care of I lived or died due to the constant pain, and it took me 5 or 6 yrs to come to terms with it.

The anti-D's help alot.
If you are not on an anti-depressant plz talk to your dr. about it, you will need it.

If you need pain meds and are not getting them/not able to get them perscribed (I went thru that roller coaster for yrs!) either demand relief from your doc, or find a doc who understands how much pain you are in & will help you in that dept.

What meds are you taking?

Wishing you the best!
Jill

Exercise of any kind is good. I don't have a car and walk 2-3 miles a day to and from work and other places, and it has helped my health in general which then has helped my pain. You didn't mention what meds you are on, although no prescription meds have done me much good. I take 800 mg. naproxen (Aleve) and a 1000-mg. flaxseed oil capsule every night at bedtime. It's not foolproof, but I also use Arnica (a homeopathic herb) for flareups. Check out the links below for more information on Arnica and other remedies. Good luck.

I was diagnosed with fibro in Dec 2004, but I've had symptoms since 1996. I take neurontin and have since I was diagnosed. It has helped my immensely, talk to your doctor about it. You should also talk to your doc about anything you are going to try. There are alot of snake oil salesman trying to cash in on chronic disorders like fibro.

I agree that you also need to get as much sleep as possible! And, remember, that sometimes you can do everything right and feel like hell. Don't let it get you down. You are not alone.

The advice Jill gave was GREAT! I agree with everything she said. You can't let this illness or any other rob you of the things you enjoy in life. We need a fibromyalgia section where we can all share what we have tried and what helped us.

A friend of ours at church has Fibro Myalgia. She has been taking Reliv for a few months, and is doing a lot better. If you would like more information, you can email us at worknman73@yahoo.com
