Does anyone know what I can run in my BMW M3 on the quarter mile. I have the SMG transmission, and the performance package. The girl is fast, but I wanna race an EVO and I know he can take me on a road track, but I think I can get him on the quarter. Any ideas?

The 2005 M3 Competition Pkg with SMG will run 13.3 @ 104.4 mph in the quarter.
The 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo RS will run 13.2 @ 99.8 mph in the quarter.
The M3 is definately a faster car through the gears, but the launch here is the big difference. The Evo can launch with such ferocity that the quarter times are great. The M3 is much harder to launch, but is faster. It all comes down to the driver in this case, one slipup in the evo and your nowhere near 13.2. Good luck, I hope you kill the Evo, I hate rice burners.

The M3 doesn't come with a performance package; if you mean competition package, all it gives you is bigger brakes and a quicker steering ratio. Also, an Evo WON'T take an M3 on a track (unless it's dirt), but does have a decent shot in the 1/4 mile, depending on the driver. The cars are roughly equal (trap times are 102ish for the Evo and 105ish for the M3), but he has a huge advantage on launch.
With SMG for the 1/4 mile, learn to use launch control. Hold the shifter forward, put the brake to the floor, then slowly put the gas to the floor. Remove your foot from the brake. When you're ready to go, release the shifter and upshift normally. It'll give you a drop-clutch start from 1800 rpm without slipping the tires.

It's the 3rd article down - I forgot it's also DSC off and S6. And I'd make sure Sport mode was on.

The Quarter really depends on the gear in the rear end. For ex: My 93 F-body Mustang Has 3:55's, and I have had it in the High tens. Also look at the size of you injectors, exhaust styles and rubber. Your suspension has a big part too. Personally, I prefer softer rear end. It may seem crazy, but try it.

NOT SURE ON 2006 MODEL BUT REVIEWS ON THE 00 01 02 03 ALL RUN MID 13'S SO IF THE CURRENT MODEL HAS AN INCREASE IN POWER NOT JUST A CHANGE OF SHAPE YOU CAN GUESS LOWER THAN THAT MAYBE 13.2 HOWEVER DEPENDS ON EVO MODEL I'VE SEEN THEM RUN BETWEEN 14.1 DOWN TO A 13 FLAT WITH NO AFTERMAKET MODS. TO BE SURE GIVE IT A SQUIRT OF NOS
