Hi all I would like to educated some of you,
1. All immigrants are not just Mexicans, you guys need to be more realistic, there are many immigrants from Canada, Ireland, Russia and so on, it only appears for those who can not see beyond your noses that there its only on border to the United States and the only way the immigrants can cross in just Mexico please give a break, think about why you only focus on the south border why? See the government only focus on the south border.
2.We Immigrants (The Mexicans) are on our homeland do some history.
3.We do pay taxes the ones who does not pay taxes are the one who work on Los Angeles at the Chinese, Korean Mills, to make it short most the immigrant workers who work of Asian Immigrants they also don pay taxes and not body is looking on their way why?
4.I read some of the answers and some one could not even spell Immigrants come and they call them self’s American well We should know the everybody who lives on this side of the world are Americans I think the person was trying to say North Americans.
5. Just one more thing in my case. We are not hispanics or Latinos, I can see why are we called hispanics because we speak spanish but latinos we do not speak latin the latinos are the ones from Italy the romans way back do some history I though the North Americans were well educated but not to me, yes I'm an immigrant yes I'm Mexican not a latino or hispanic.

You raise completely valid points. The real issue in the immigration story is not the fact that people are immigrants but that they are Mexican. Illegal and legal immigrants from other places are never even mentioned by the media.
I think a lot of folks who say they are taking jobs and resource may be partially correct but largely wrong. However, the real agenda behind their statement may be dislike of the fact they are Mexican.
There are three issues at hand:
(1) Racism -- obviously inexcusable
(2) Objection to the fact that Mexicans have a better chance to get here than everyone else due to simple proximity. This is a valid point for stricter border security.
(3) Concerns about culture and assimilation due to the large number of Mexicans entering the US. Of course, most are decent hard working people. But to deny that entire cultures can and do have undesireable traits is absurd. This does not mean that individuals are undesireable but rather that they must adjust to the prevailing culture without losing their heritage. For Mexicans, the main problem in advancement here is that their work ethic is not coupled with an appreciation or sufficient interest in higher education. As you say we need people to pick crops, but do we want a whole category of people whose descendants continue to pick crops or at best, run small businesses (legally) or sell drugs (illegally)? I am a white person who had a Mexican partner for three years and observed barrio culture up close. Just like Bill Cosby does with African-Americans someone in the Mexican-American community needs to point out their own failing which they cannot just blame on racsim.
The other whole problem with this issue is it cannot be reduced to simple black and white (I mean in the metaphoric sense, not a racial one). Anyone who tries to do so is not very high on intelligence, regardless of what side they are on.

I believe that I am an immigrant even though I was born here and my family has been here since before the Revolutionary War. Before that time, most of my ancestors came from Europe. The Mexicans and other Latino immigrants have been on this continent long before we ever came her. Have Americans forgotten this?
I also think it is odd that so many people want to get the "Mexicans" out. Our Latino population is not made up of only Mexicans. Many people who need help come from other Latin American countries as well. The money we want to use for closing the border could go to help these countries so that they would not need to leave there home to find a better life.

First of all, farming is not a bad living, I wouldn't mind it at all.
Second of all, if you are illegally in this country, you are breaking the LAW. You cannot go to an other country and break the law, they have very little or no tolerance for foreigners who break their laws, unlike this country. My Grandfather came here from Italy LEGALLY, He fought as a young man for his new country in WW1 and was wounded and awarded a Purple Heart. I understand that there are many Mexican Family's who are good people and are hard working, who came here for a better life, but that does not excuse the fact that it is breaking the law not to come here through the proper channels and that being here for 20 some years means they have been breaking the law for years!
There are also bad people, criminals who slip through the cracks, because so many people are just allowed to enter this country if they wish. Yes, it is draining our resources to support so many undocumented people, it is UNFAIR to those of us who do things properly. Why do governments of other countries keep there people at such a disadvantage, when the government is not in such poverty and we the American people have to sacrifice our why of life, our beliefs, our money, our flag, our schools, our hospitasl, our language, our family's and our taxes for everyone else' corrupt and unfair mess! Do we not have the right to say, like every other country does, if you are not here in OUR country to follow, our laws, our rules our way of life, than you need to LEAVE! This is AMERICA, Love it or LEAVE it! Be Proud of it the way it has been for over 200 years or GET OUT!
Don't worry, there have been enough children of illegal aliens born here, who will eventialy be voters to change our countrys way of life forever! The damage has already been done!

I am sorry - you have a misconception within your question.
Most immigrants who come to the United States illegally are not here for a better life. They are here to make money to send home. They have no real interest in citizenship, just the benefits thereof.
Likewise, if you wish to discuss illegal immigration, why focus on Mexico?
What about the Fuijan-Chinese who are smuggled into this country and forced into prostitution?
You are correct that there are problems the United States should solve at home before running off to war - but rather than simply ask questions and vote on responses is anyone who has answered your question really going to actively do anything?

Do we really want citizens whose first act on American soil is to break the law?
In this country there exists the means to immigrate legally. All our ancestors came here from somewhere else. They took the proper steps, got work visas, had sponsors, learned the language, etc.
Why should new laws be put into place for the "Mexicans" of today? Or any other people who are here illegally? Changing those laws is like a slap in the face to every one of our ancestors who did it right when they came to America.
America is a great country, a melting pot with the best rising to the top.
I welcome those people who immigrate here legally, from Mexico or any other country, who want to add their customs and traditions to the culture that is America. I disdain those who expect America to change for them.
Maybe it is time to revive that expression from the Viet Nam era - America - Love it or Leave it!

The principle that you are missing entirely and is prevelent among the liberal "let anything go crowd" is the fact that they are BREAKING the law!
We are a nation of laws. You can not pick and choose which ones you want to obey and which ones you dont. I dont care if they have been here 20 years. If you have to hide in the trunk of a car and sneak across the border then you are doing something wrong. If you steal someones social security card or ID, you are doing something wrong, besides messing up that other persons life. If you are bringing in diseases that have been none existent in this country for years, you are doing something wrong. If you are bleeding off hospital funds because you expect free medical treatment and joe six pack cant get medical insurance because he cant afford it, then you are doing something wrong. If you cant speak english in school, you are holding back all the students who can and bringing our educational system down. And this is just the tip of the ice berg. You are NOT more special than someone who is following the rules and trying to get into the US legally. YOU do not deserve special treatment over someone else. You do not have the right to butt in line.
You took your chances coming here illegally. You knew the risk. If you get deported years later, that is just too darned bad. And NO they are not more hard working! 25-29% of all prison inmates in the state of CA are illegal.
Everyone wants to be happy. This is not a right. Do I have the right to move into the guys house down the street because his is nicer than mine? Get real.
Most crops are automated now. And if the farmers spent the money and invested in the correct machinery, they would not have to pick them. But they dont want to invest the money. Its easier for them to break the law by hiring illegals.
Now I have just given you a plethora of reasons why this is wrong and all you can come up with is this? HELLO!!!!

If there were not so many illegal immigrants work at the job "American do not want to do" then the wages at those jobs would be much higher. Assume then the wages at those jobs would increase to the level Americans would want to do those jobs like picking crops or collecting garage. It's all about economic es. So if there were not some many illegals willing to work for a low wages then Americans wage would increase to the level we would want to do the jobs.
Example: 11 Million illegal immigrants want to work in the U.S. ,and there willing to work at any job for $5.75. Then you have Americans with a high school degree and he/she is willing to work at $10 an hour. So, when we have 11 million illegals willing to work at a low wage it brings down the wage for Americans. It also creates poverty & crime becasue it hard for someone to live on $5.75 an hour.
This 11 millon people increase in poverty takes billions away from Goverment programs intended for American Citizens. Plus since there here ilegaly in the first place then there more likey to get involved in crime like sell drugs. Illegal immigration affects us on some many levels.
The objection for this of couse is they (Illegals) have been paying billions in to the social sercuity fund which will never be claimed. However if there were not 11 million illegals then Americans would be paid a higher wage to do jobs like corp picking. This would mean Americans would be paying billions more into the social sercuity then illegals would have becasue of there higher wage. Plus they would be less likey to claim gov benfits if they had a higher wage.

If they are here legally I don't have a problem with it. But when my sister went to get help from our government she couldn't get it because they had too much income (her and her husband were unemployeed no income), where as in the room next to her was a couple of Illegal immagrints getting all kinds of governement assistance. In my community there were 6 sex offenders not on file because they themselves were illegal immagrints which they were found on the day that the illegal immagrints didn't go to work or shop or anything.
Its not a matter of is our country really that self centered but its about what would be better for our country if they don't do something about the immagration.

I think you are missing the point. I also know illegals and I think they are great people, but the operative word here is ILLEGAL. There are so many people who have been following the legal process for entering the USA (of which I know many of) and why should they be pushed aside to accommodate those who are illegal? As for working in fields and such, that would be a great place to encourage those on welfare (and don't need to be) to find work. Our country is what it is due to those who have taken a stand, fought and were willing to die to make it so. I think that a revolution in Mexico would be a good thing if only there were those who would stand to fight for and create their own free Democracy . (As for going to another country to fight terrorism, it sure makes more sense to do that then to wait and have to fight it on our own soil). Illegal doesn't mean evil, it just means illegal and when the law is broken, there needs to be a consequence for that action. If someone just decided that they liked the idea of your house instead of theirs, then I suppose that you would just let them move in and you would be willing to provide for their every need and want. NOPE....you would call the police and have them removed!! PRONTO! The USA is my home and I don't want someone just moving in without going through the proper channels.
