I guess people choose to forget that Texas used to be Mexico. They were here first. Who's the immigrant?

I think we shouldn't be making such a big deal about illegal immigration right now. We are at a time of war an unneccesrary war nonetheless. I think the government should not help the illegal immigrants with all the welfare and protection it gives them that way they can work hard to earn their citizenship and not become accustomed to the benefits the govenment grants. Or if they do want to help hispanics they should do a background check or monitor them and I believe the government has a right to do that since they are the ones providing for them. I am a hispanic but I've earned my citizenship, believe me for someone who knew very little english acquiring it was a difficult task and i did not accept any help. I did not have kids until I was a true American Citizen. Anyway I don't think throwing illegal immigrants is the solution to this problem I think there are better answers to this unresolved issue like i said if the government provides less benefits like welfare they would hurry up and become citizens. Besides I'd be nice to see the war issue solved before we send of illegal immigrants because if many of those troops die (que Dios no lo mande a suseder) there would be lack of money flowing in the economy and thus pull the nation into more debt than we already are.

Well to start off with America use to be a free country but now it's becoming more like what Russia was. The Government tells you what you can do and what you can't do. The Mexicans come over here and work for less money where the Americans want work, but if congress would quit giving themselves raises and shooting down the rise of minimum wages then maybe more Americans wouldn't mind doing some of those other jobs.

There are legal ways to become US citizens, but those who do not follow the law want to be exempt just because they haven't been caught. The USA cannot absorb all the world's poor. If we allow Mexicans to become citizens without following normal immigration procedures just because they happen to live next door and are needy, then how can we deny other needy person entry into the country. There are millions of poor Indians and Africans that would love to become US citizens. What makes Mexicans more deserving of US citizenship than a Pakistani, or a Russian, or a South African, or anyone else in the world?

Hmm, this is a tough question but in the end I think illegal immigration is fine. I mean it has been happening for a long time and there has not been a problem with it yet. Plus, they do the work that no one is willing to do, like picking crops and working at the beef factories. The only thing that needs to change is either having them learn English or make the second language of the US Spanish.

Illegal anything is wrong in a God fearing nation such as this one was when it was newly discovered. All political people were required to go to seminary prior to running for a government position. If the immigrants want to come here then they should do what if required by our laws to become citizens. We are being brought down financially because of all the illegals coming in and putting a burden on our citizens to educate and provide health care for them. If you are worried about the crops being picked, then do away with welfare and then there will be plenty of people to pick the crops and flip burgers. The able bodied lazy citizens should be working instead of the working citizens providing for them to do nothing to contribute. The illegal immigration should be stopped now even if it means a 20' wall build on the border and security be 24/7 on the border watching for tunnels as they bring in drugs and weapons to destroy our country and bring it down to the level of their country. They should be working to repair their own country and build it up following the example the U S has shown. God Bless America!!

I can understand your concern, however it doesn't make it right. If we Americans uprooted and went for citizenship in other countries illegally we would be thrown out. There is a process to be legalized for a reason. The people that its really hurting is our children. Public schools out west are infested with illegals and natural born citizen children are paying the price. Your lawn and farms today the rest of the world tomorrow. I don't know about you but I am tired of having to learn Spanish just to communicate with people who are here illegally. Its not right for all the others that came here legally and learned the language.

The issue is complex and they r trying to fix mistakes of the past. In reality if we took away social programs the lower paying jobs will go away. The lower paying jobs are only being filled by the new illegal workers. The next generation is going to school and going for bigger and better things. This is great to see but it is limiting the jobs that true americans deserve. A complex issue and no single person will ever be completely happy. I just look at our currency and see the phrase on it. I just hope that little phrase makes things work our in the long run.

There are many Mexicans that are hard working, but as such they have been hired to work at some jobs for very low wages which in turn lowers wages on other jobs that should pay more. Also many of the Mexicans that live here illegally get benifits from our government that some of us that were born here could not get, even if we needed it. Many Mexicans also pay no tax, and send their money back to Mexico. Many work here for years then return to Mexico with their money to retire. How many of us can work for 10 years and retire. I'm not against them living here, but should illegal Mexicans get all the benifits that we pay for without paying? There are many issues to consider

If all the complainers look into their past, most will be descendants of immigrants. However, stricter controls need to be in place to check on prospective immigrants backgrounds in light of terror threats. And is it fair for people who have filed all the right papers and gone through proper channels and are waiting to immigrate to be bypassed by illegals? Finally, jobs should all provide a salary that will enable a breadwinner to live above poverty level. Raise the salaries and there won't be a problem filling the jobs, workers will have self esteem, and there will be less pressure on social services.

I have no problem with legal "Mexican's" in the United States. What I have a problem with is illegals coming across our borders invading our health and welfare system. When I have to pay 500.00 dollars a month to provide health insurance for my family, a person that is in this country illegally can go to a clinic for free. Come on.....I don't hate anyone, I just want everyone to have the same rights and to do things legally.
