Try approaching this person calming and just ask if they need to set up some sort of payment plan. Be understadning of thier situation. Obvisouly if they had to borrow it in the first place they are not made of money. Payments would be better than losing your friend and not getting money back without going to small claims court and that is still no guaruntee. Payments will let them keep thier dignity, you keep a friend, and you get the money. Good Luck.

many times you never get money back that you lent people. But I was taught that you do get it back spiritually in some way shape or form.
I just learned to forget about it. Either I get the money back or I don't. I count it as a loss and move on or I count it as helping someone in need. I really don't ever expect someone to pay me back when money is borrowed.
Hey just count it as loss and move on. Also you can't lend everyone money or you will be the one that is broke with no one to help you. You've got to learn to look out for yourself and only lend money out if it is going to be beneficial.

that's a tough one. maybe you can take the person to small claims court to get your money back. Be sure to bring any evidence such as an IOU or receipt - or even the date you took the money out of your bank for him.
Unfortunately it may be gone. For the future, remember this Never lend more than you can afford to give away. In other words - don;t expect to get $ back when you lend it. If you do, it's great, but if you don't it won't cost a friendship.

Depends on how good of a friend it is. If it's a really good friend, give up on it and remember never to lend again. If it's not, consider sending a letter that explains your options (small claims court). Next time get it in writing that they are borrowing from you (if you choose to lend to anyone else in the future.)
Best advice NEITHER A BORROWER NOR A LENDER BE

one thousand dollars. I would never have loaned that kind of money to someone unless he/she were a close friend. BUT since you did, take a hold of them and tell them they have like two weeks to come up with the money. Then legally take them to court. BUT my way would most likely get you locked up. After the two weeks I'd beat him silly. If it were a girl, I'd get another girl to beat her silly. But the rule I use when I loan out money, is if I can't afford to loose it I don't loan it. I mean like ten twenty, fifty whatever the amount if. If I can afford to loose it then if I do loose it, I chaulk it up to education. And I also TELL EVERYONE who knows thisa person that he/she is a ripeoff.

Well you shouldn't of loaned out that kind of money to someone who isn't that close to you for one.
And I don't mean to be like that but you need to beat the crap out of him everyday until he starts paying you back or giving u all your money. Everyday I would do that.

don't lend people money especially friends, give it to them. then you don't have to worry about trying to get it back. money will make enemies of friends with good intentions.
