I am on my way to vacation tonight, and I was wondering who thinks/knows/believes that sun tan lotion actually makes you darker than if you did not have it on.

You are asking to get burned without it, let alone the worse things that could come from it later in life. WEAR THE SUNTAN LOTION!

Having the suntan lotion on is a great benefit because of the emoliants within the lotion which protect your skin from drying and burning out in the bed due to the uv rays. It also kicks that tan up a good bit by giving you a smoother even pretty tan. Also it prevents that stretchy looking skin you get. Use it and believe in it because it protects your skin more than you will ever know.

Sun Screen protects your skin from sun damage that can cause skin cancer.
my experience is that NOT using screen causes my skin to burn. Using a low SPF allowed me to get a gradual tan. However, now that I am older, I don't want tanned skin. I wear a high SPF to prevent burning and tanning, which can contribute to skin cancer, and premature wrinkling of the skin.

most suntan lotions will have an SPF, dont wear anything wihtout an SPF, you are increasing the risk of getting skin cancer, AND suntan lotion WILL bring out your tan!

You can get suntan lotion with a self tanner built into it, but I would not go without and risk getting skin cancer.
