I use a tracfone. I don't want a cell phone for everyday use. I have a daughter that is a year old and want a cell phone for only emergencies. I paid 300.00 for 500 min that are good for a year. It's more expensive but I have only used 100 min in six months. This low usage makes the tracfone attaractive to me.

I wouldn't because I'm not an american, however I have the australian equivelant at the moment and I'm very happy with the service, security and support.
Prepaid mobile phone services were once the largest growing trends in the phone services industry. This has been replaced by VOIP, however the internet is only available via phone or dedicated access links, which are not an easily transportable option, so the mobile phone industry remains strong. Prepaid is a way of pay as you go, no lock in contracts, easily accessible and entirely owned and disposable phone services option that changes with changing technology and your changing needs. I went from a prepaid GSM to a prepaid CDMA and only cost me the outright value of the new phone. you can change networks at will if the latest carrier is offering the lowest rates ever, without even informing from your current carrier. Totally disposable lifestyle choice.

It just depends on how many minutes you are gonna use a day and what works in your area. I mean if you plan on using it for minimal use I would say OK but when you buy a small card such as the 19.99 for 60 minutes you are paying 33 cent a minute. the higher the card you buy the more minutes you will get and it will drop in price. I would recommend if your gonna use it alot and you have great cingular reception where you live that you go with the go phone on the dollar a day plan that gives you free mobile to mobile and just ten cents a minute

I have one and I like having the option of using or not using it depending on if I can afford the minutes.
