I had a new gear put in a year and a half ago, and some of the gears don't fit into eachother, and therefore my spedometer does not work. The only way it will work is if we do an expensive repair on the gear (about $500). Are there any digital spedometers (run on batteries) that you can buy and keep in the car without fixing the spedometer in the dash? I want something that will NOT be installed in the dash, to make myself clear. Thanks!

get a GPS. it will just mount on your dash. not only will it tell you your speed, you will have a handy dandy map all of the time. just make sure you get one with the speed on it.
