classic rock ...It changed the world as we knew it. There never has been more of a change in this world then with the music of the 60s and first part of the 70s. The songs were about the time and the things going on. It started movements and started to make song's more about real things. This is something no other music has been able to do or come close to doing.

Different genres are good at different things. If I want some raw energy and agression, I love some good death or black metal.
If I'm in a mood for something more rhythmic, some electronic or EBM like Covenant is good.
Jazz is good when it's late at night and I'm driving around for some reason, and just when I'm in a laid-back mood. Miles Davis and Charles Mingus are incredable for this.
Classical in it's various forms is good for nearly any mood or situation. Bach's complexities can be listened to over and over, and something like Stravinsky's "The Rite Of Spring" have all the intensity of any "metal" you'll hear on the radio.

I couldn't choose just one genre, however, there are so I can do without. I don't like hip-hop because there is no originality anymore -- too much sampling and too much sounding very drone. I can do without the rap/metal genre - can't deal with the Linkin Park bands.. UGH
I would have to then say, if i had to choose -- Classical and Metal

The best is classical because that laid the foundation for all the music that came after it. However I do not listen to it much, only when I want to calm down. I love mostly all music but it all started with classical.

I'm really into Jazz music right now because it's the only genre of music that's not talking about death and violence and so on and so forth. It's just really laid back and calming.

I think Country is the best music because it talks about real issues and how we truly live. It talks about faith, love of our county and troops. love for one another and love gone wrong. It does not talk down to people (women) we don't talk about raping and killing (except for the a few songs over the years), Everyday issues for everyday people.
