If you are thinking along the lines of sales, I would try to get a local tax Id number first. It is free in most states. Decide what it is that you want to sell. Then do some research on wholesalers. Ebay may be a good place to start, but sometimes there are distributors selling their products at wholesale. Try some other auction sites, you may find a larger profit margin there. Good luck.

The best routes to take are to research the process of starting a business as well as the industry you're interested in.
I recommend checking out the SBA, Entrepreneur, The Start Up Journal & Nolo. All 4 are great informational resources for the new/small business owner. I posted links for you in the source box.
Research, research, research – this cannot be stressed enough. Read as much as you can. Here are some book titles that are relevant:
* How to Really Start Your Own Business, Fourth Edition by David E. Gumpert
* How to Really Create a Successful Business Plan: Step-by-Step Guide by David E. Gumpert
* What No One Ever Tells You about Starting Your Own Business: Real-Life Start-Up Advice from 101 Successful Entrepreneurs (What No One Ever Tells You About Starting Your Own Business) by Jan Norman
* Business Start-Up Kit by Steven D. Strauss
* Start Your Own Business (Entrepreneur Magazine's Start Up) by Rieva Lesonsky
There are plenty of free informational resources out there. Check the source box for links to articles.
Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

depends on what kind of business...
I have alot of experience in home based business.....
My mother started her hair Solon in her house.......Now she has a few hair Solon's and is doing great....: )
First, You need to know what kind of business you want to start.......then understand it is going to probably take more room then what you think.....Having a home based business well take away from privacy at your home....that's always the downfall...........
But you don't have to travel to work......or pay other bills because you have that covered..you live there....... ; )
just depends on what business your putting in your home.
Now if you doing something is jewelry ... I know alot of great wholesalers.....
Or if your doing second hand used clothing and handbags....that's something fun to get into....
I had a puppy boutique for awhile.....Now that was alot of work... I just sold things like puppy clothing....doggie spring water.....cute things for puppys..........bedding...bath products...........I got ill ....but I'm doing better......I had to close my store.....
but I loved having a business....
Its always a good idea to go to social events in your community too.....so people know your out there..... Going to fairs and festals and setting up a table.......
Good luck

First obtain a vendors license. Go to your county office and they should be able to help you with that. Next get a bookkeeping program or an accountant.
