Spelling aside, I find it easy to agree a with many of your points. Rap, at best, is a vocal style, like scat singing or Gregorian chanting. Many other genres of music started as a style of an original genre, then became their own genre. Nearly all pop American music stems from the blues, which is pretty much over. Any one out there downloaded more than 5 NEW blues tunes this year? didn't think so.
Rap, or more likely Hip Hop, will get retooled will sales fall off, maybe spread out in styles a bit more, new subject matter. But its just pop music. I have no problem ignoring it, though it bugs me , is that is the only music in the clubs, club owners are too afraid to be different (or even retro!)

When rap first came out in the late 70's, it was "the thing" (especially if you weren't white). The era of big bands like Parliament/Funkadelic, The Commodores, LTD (just to name a few) was fading out, just like it's counterpart disco.
Like it or not, music at that time was just as divided as our racial culture in this country. Everyone said "yeah raps is cool, but it will pass like any other genre". But a funny thing happened 'on the way to the record store' - white kids starting digging it. Then you started hearing it on mainstream radio - something totally unheard of back in the big band R&B days. Still, people gave it only a year or two. Here we are 25 years later.
I stuck with rap, or as it has evolved, "hip-hop" through thick and thin, but it has lost me within the last five years. I have over 800 songs on my ipod, 80% which are rap. In the last year, I have downloaded less than six rap songs that have come within the last year. Maybe I'm not with the changing style, or maybe being in my 40's, I've just outgrown it. But I can't say that for alot of people. I can name at least five commercials that come on in primetime TV that use a rap song. THAT SAYS MORE THAN ANYTHING!
Rap ain't going nowhere soon. It will just continuing recycling itself.

Rap isn't the best genre of music, that I'll agree to. But it helps to get people on the dance floor. I've never heard a rock song that can do that. And why are bashing rap like that. There are several diffrent genres of music so that you can pick and choose and shut the **** up! I don't need you bashing the other genres of music based on your childish reasons. Ask questions that are worth asking!!!

First of all, you either need to learn to spell or use spell check. Secondly, what makes you think that all rockers write their own songs and play their own instruments? If you don't like a certain genre of music, why must you belittle it? If history has taught us anything, it has taught us that rap and rock go hand in hand. Just ask Run DMC and Aerosmith. I don't particularly like rap either but my best friend does and we respect each others right to listen to the music we choose. When we are together we compromise and listen to something we both like.

That's why there are so many different types of music. Because not everyone is going to like it all! Not everyone likes rock music (define rock music!..... there are so many different "flavors" of it, I don't think you can). When Elvis started singing and shaking his "thing" people thought that was the end of the world!
If rap music has a following, which it does, it's not going anywhere. I don't like it either, but guess what? I don't listen to it! So I don't let it bother me.

If I had to listen to that "crap" all day, I, too, would take a gun somewhere and kill other people. Rap is ten thousand times worse than torture! It's just NOISE!
