Last week, the New York Times published details regarding how the U.S., in search of the terrorist money trail, tracks international money transfers. The paper does not dispute that the U.S. is acting legally, but they insisted on publishing the article anyway. In general, it seems like the press is making every effort to unnecessarily complicate the war on terror. More to the point, it seems they are willing to sabotage the war on terror, just to defeat the Republicans. Do you agree or disagree? There does not appear to be any compelling justification here. There is no issue regarding the public's right to know, since everything done is perfectly legal. Considering the way the NY Times is sabotaging the government's efforts to protect us, should the NY Times have its press credentials revoked?

Absolutely! I would like to see them publicly humiliated for their actions. Actually, I would like to see them prosecuted for treason, but I don't know that it would ever happen with our liberal courts.

I would also like to see them audited by the IRS. I know it's a sleazy Democrat trick, but, since they do it (ask the NRA), let's give as good as we get. I know that we're supposed to be the mature adults and take the high ground, but no one is punishing the Democrats when they break the rules, so something has to change. Either we start pulling the childish stunts that they do, or we must start punishing them for their cheating.

What I want to know is if this is a threat to national security at some imply then why isn't it being dealt with ? They ran details on something I've been told was released five years ago but I've not been able to confirm the source. Either way the only person telling us they are betraying us to the enemy is the Administration and my question is if so then do something about it. You can't just label a newspaper a risk to national security without following up. If it's that serious do something don't label them without actually providing any solid factual evidence. That would be a way of shutting down the fourth estate without appearing to be shutting it down. I want the administration to do something about this accusation if it's true rather then just make and do nothing. If the Adminstration can back up the claim then yes revoke their press credentials, if not they need to withdraw the statement. I have to wonder if it's just smoke to deflect from on issue and shift focus to another. If the White House does nothing it tells me they are talking about both sides of their mouth on the matter. It's a risk to national security but we aren't going to do anything about it but huff and puff. I think it's dangerous to throw words like traitor and treason out labeling things that don't fit that description because it muddy's the water when the real issue presents itself.

If this is what they say it is then yes by all means suspend their press credentials but if it's not and your only bluffing leave it alone. Chalk it up to a story you don't like run by a newspaper that doesn't like you welcome to the world of free press.

Some how, the press is of the belief they know what is best for you. They want to create news not report it. I was an elected offical for two terms and quickly discovered that truth / honesty was not the real issue for the media. The real purpose is to create viewers/ subscribers at all cost. Never mind the impact or validity of the report. Like many, I can only be left to wonder what today's media would have done on D-day. I think the Germans would love todays media.

I hate to say it, but yes they are. Most of the press and media
nowadays are liberals and Democrats (it has been proven) so
of course they don't like G. Bush and they'll do anything they
can to make Bush look badly (and they have because they do
have the power). They want to know everything and tell every-
thing, but some things (especially security matters) need to
be withheld. They want to tell the enema exactly what we have
planned (time, place, location, date etc) and that just helps the
other side be ready for us at those times and dates. That is
just not smart, but they do it because they are so afraid G Bush
will get credit for something going right. They'll publish pictures
of prisioners in camps and our treatment of their bad guys
pales in comparison of what they do to our guys they capture.
The press should be condemning them, not US.

Err, no. The press isn't sabotaging the "WoT", the leakers are. The Times thinks the People have a right to know about these programs which may or may not be entirely LEGAL. ***** about the leakers, not just the papers. You partisans and your talking points make you all sound like robots, left and right. :\

Not only sabotage but they stole the headlines all week deterring all the really good news going on in Iraq. The news that really truly is "FIT TO PRINT". Shame on them. I Can't imagine the number of people who have died because of there propaganda.
Anyone that continues to subscribe to the NY Times is UNAMERICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Freedom of the press. There's nothing you can do about it. Anyway, they're not sabotaging, they're giving an opinion. If I say I don't like goldfish, I'm not sabotaging their popularity.

If you have noticed, the press, like politicians, don't always have all the facts and don't make sure they are lies they are printing. It is not just with the war, it can be with any article they print...sensationalism is a good word I think

Emphatically YES. And they should be tried for treason.

Playtoofast - you just need to keep playing - can you guarantee that the terrorist will leave me alone? If not - then keep taking names and kicking butt.
