I have, and I'm an American. You know what? Take a look at South Africa today, (Where the majority of slaves where kid napped from). I'd have to say that the Africans have had it way better here, despite the few years they where in slaved. I guess the Africans who are still bitter should be given a one way ticket home. To absolute poverty, famine, disease and destruction.

I don't think so, and I don't know that we ever will. How can you come to terms with something so disgusting? Plus, so many of the history books that are in schools don't do a good enough job explaining what really happened, and our own president makes remarks like this:
"Another example would be the Dred Scott case, which is where judges, years ago, said that the Constitution allowed slavery because of personal property rights. That's a personal opinion. That's not what the constitution says. The constitution of the United States says we're all — you know, it doesn't say that. It doesn't speak to the equality of America." —George W. Bush, second presidential debate, St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 8, 2004
"It's very interesting when you think about it, the slaves who left here to go to America, because of their steadfast and their religion and their belief in freedom, helped change America."—Dakar, Senegal, July 8, 2003 (Thanks to Michael Shively.)
When you have a president who feels the slaves "left" Africa to come to America, I think that shows we're in sad shape...and when you see answers like many here that state America was not the only slave holding nation, so that makes it ok, right? Holy cow...

Slavery was a worldwide custom since the dawn of time. America was a leader in abolishing slavery. We fought a bloody civil war to end it here. Take a look at yourself if you want to see the people that are ignoring the facts of history to further thier own agenda. All the blood spilled by Americans to end slavery deserves some respect.

Why not ask about the other countries?
America wasn't the only country where they had slaves, you know.

Not really, they gloss right over it in history class, and pretend like that speech Lincoln gave was the end of a sad chapter.
Now open your math books.
