Why don't all of the vehement anti-war protesters (Cindy Sheehan, John Murtha, Michael Moore, etc) go to Iraq and become human shields?
They could send a very powerful message to the administration by standing in front of mosques, schools, hospitals, etc.
Why don't regular Americans who are constantly railing against the war try the same?
This question isn't meant to be baiting, I'm just wondering if their opinions and beliefs are based on anything more than trying to further themselves publicly.
(And before you say something like, "If you're so FOR the war, why aren't you in the Army?", I'll let you know: I tried to enlist twice, but a total knee replacement is one of those things that recruiters frown upon.)

It's funny how people react to this innocent question...
I especially like the use of an expletive to enhance the command of "grow up". LOL hypocrisy at it's finest.

Great question. I would love to see Murtha, Sheehan, Moore, and even John Kerry holding hands in front of a mosque in a means of protest. See how they feel when they are attacked by a suicide bomber. These liberals need to decide what they stand for (instead of just anti-Bush) before they start bashing our troops and other military leaders. They might be worth listening to if they ever had any good points to make.

Some of these people are totally against the war. I know I am. I'm not one of those people that complain about the money spent, I feel bad for the soldiers. I know they enlisted so war was a possibility, but this thing has went on long enough. I'm not in the army, because I have 2 small children. I'm not sorry about the fact that I'd rather be with my kids than be in a country that we shouldn't be in in the first place!!! I know numerous men and women that have served in Iraq, and I hear the same from every one of them. We should never have invaded Iraq. It's a lost cause and I'm sorry if anyone gets offended, this is just the way I feel.

What would this really prove, especially to the current administration, who im my opinion, only believes the opinions that matter are those that can be backed up with large sums of money.
Why should they put themselves in harms way, like our unfortunate soldiers are having to do, to get across a message that is just as powerful when they protest here. Do you think all pro-war advocates should head over to Iraq and put themselves in harms way as well.
Whether you are for or against the war, every person has a right in this country to non-violent protest. They are doing what they feel is right, and whether or not you believe in it, they do and have a right to express that.
Just because you cannot enter the armed forces does not mean you could not join civilian organizations that are in Iraq supporting the troups. If you feel so strongly about these people being over there to express there message, naybe you should look into one serving with a civialian org and express your message.
Open-mindedness is a good thing. Do not close your mind to other people's belief just because they are not your own. Open exchange of ideas is what leads people to learning and being able to empathize with other people's positions bettter.

First, dissent on government policy is not "government bashing." It is democracy. Automatic, knee-jerk flagwaving in support of whatever the government is up to is frightenly undemocratic.
Second, this question really demonizes and dismisses those who dissent by implying that their motive is always self-aggrandizing grandstanding, and any other motive is just some kind of self-justifying addition.
Third, the government will not allow Americans to go to Iraq unless they are to be engaged in government approved business. It doesn't want non-government interference, and doesn't want the publicity.
Fourth, Sheehan, Murtha, Moore, Etc., are loyal Americans and going to Iraq to act as human shields would be traitorous.
Their dissent takes normal, common, democratic forms. It is what we should be proud of, it is what we say we are trying to develop in other places, it is good that people in other places can see that here in the US citizens can openly and vigorously express their opposition to government behaviors and policies.
Demonizing dissenters, shouting them down with snide remarks and imputing disloyalty and defect of character, and so on are all the usual tricks of someone who has no real answer to dissent.

you sound tough, though.
Let me get your logic straight.
Anti war protester should become human shields.
although i agree with the point your making that the administration did not properley supply body armour.
I doubt that our troops would want human shield instead of body armour. only because humans are heavy and might not resist a bullet as well.
Your solution to have every anti war person, which probably at this point is more than half the country is unreasonable, only because it would require more food and housing, as well as transportation of millions of people.
The question is baiting, unless this is logic and your a liar. Dishonest or incompetent which is it?
If I don't believe in this war why would i ask you to go die in it.
Logically it is your republican party that must ask you too...

The first one sent in as human shields should be all the children of those who voted for the war. If they support it so much, why not "put their money where there mouth is"? Currently only 5 people in Congress have children in the military, and only 3 are in Iraq. Hypocrisy at it's finest...

The people who's President ordered the illegal and needless war in Iraq are not in that country but in this one. Those anti-war protestors are in the right place to make change.

I am against any American dying for the sake of Iraqi's who are bent on killing each other. We are not the world's police force. However, I tend to be an isolationist unless we are directly threatened like Nazi Germany or Al Qaeda.
