I agree with you. I don't think people shouldn't critize america but they should support the men and women of the military. I believe it was Voltaire that said "I don't agree with a word you say, but i will fight to the death for your right to say it." I think that is true, but i don't think people feel that way any more

Your question doesn't mean anything. It's based on an abstract concept which can only exist in the minds of individuals.
Explain "True American" as a concrete idea. You can't, because such a thing doesn't exist. All you have done is listen to something that someone else said 50 years ago, or 100 years ago, or whatever and passed it off as your own opinion because you are too stupid to think for yourself.
What is so great about America? The absurdly high murder rate? The Complete lack of any kind of provision for the poor or less fortunate? The aggressive foreign policy based on the strange notion of "We believe what we believe, so you have to believe it too or we'll bomb you".
Wake up, dude. Learn to think. Don't let yourself be blinded by the propoganda.
I'll be thinking of you, dude. All the best.

To anybody who supports to the minutemen, let me just say this:
America would not exist if it were not for immigrants. If you have a problem with immigrants then you should probably return to Europe with the rest of the Aryan nation and give the land back to the true natives. What is a true American? How can anyone mold or ideate any representation as truly characterizing an American? Americans are many things. Most of us, I think are Americans by default. We were born here. I don't care for what this country has become or for much of how it started. I am Anarchist and against all forms of government. But land is owned by no one and as the song says "This is land is your land. This land is my land." So, stop telling people to leave this country if they don't like. I say if you don't like this country, change it.

I agree that there is way too much non-constructive criticism out there. I have no time for people who tell me what's wrong without also having a viable solution or two.
At the same time, to characterize "True Americans" as those who refrain from expressing their concerns about the condition of their country is also out of line. The first step in any change is a critical assessment of the status quo. Without criticism, there can be no change.

The true Americans are the ones that question things. The true Americans question their governments actions and hold our leaders accountable for the decisions that they make that affect everyone else lives but not their own.
True Americans should be outraged that congress gave themselves another pay raise for sitting on their asses and filibustering nonsense and accepting money from lobbyists.
We should be outraged that almost every single law that has been voted on has BS extras in it that don't have anything to do with the bill.
True Americans are ones that don't sit by and let stuff like this go unrecognized.

I don't think it's that they hate America so much. I think a lot of people are angry to see the desensitivity of moral fiber. More people have computers. They have more access to the worlds flaws. (through the media, music, etc..) Like never before.
I was in Austria speaking to some friends I met through work. They are amazed at many things in America, but they also think a lot of us don't care about each other. We are an overweight society of oil loving war mongers. They think we are a fish bowl of immigrants who cant make the simplest of decisions. (We have more money than they could think of, Plenty of technical know-how.) Yet we cant take care of our own. (Soc-Sec., Aids, Homeless, Medical)
Things changed very fast with the computer age.(Information Highway). People skills are no longer needed to go out and find out some things. You can do it from home.
Just a thought.. :)

Most Americans are "true" Americans. They're the ones out working hard, raising their families, and helping others. There's also a vocal minority of Americans who sit around all day complaining about how bad their country is and trying to figure out how to live comfortably on the fruits of other's labor. The reason they're in the news so often is because that type of American is unusual...not common.

If it were that easy more people would leave. Check into it some time and you will see that there are very few countries who want you and the qualifications are tough.
Politicians/lawyers and an out of control judicial system have ruined this country. I would leave in a minute if I could find a way to do so. I am sick of socialism.

America may be a great place to live in, but so are lots of other places in the world. For a long time, Americans seemed to think that their way of life had to be the standard, and they wanted to force that way of life on others.
Now, I think more and more Americans are starting to see that this is not the way, and they're starting to be more critical about their country.

OH MY GOD! Is any one actually reading what you have wrote? Hello people NJDW_3 is saying that she doesn't think it is very American to be doing flag burnings and protesting funerals of the soldiers. and I totally agree. I would cry if I saw some one protest a funeral of a soldier. I don't think that is American at all. They like died and stuff for what they believe in. otherwise don't join the military. You rock NJDW_3!
